    Hi there.

Does anybody know for sure if there is any difference between

16-S Black Megatron E-hobby (released around year 2000, as a first E-hobby Reissue 15th anniversary, G1 style box) under TAKARA

    vs

the later re-run of Takaratomy Black Megatron (in square box without a flap).

If I check upon the pictures on google images it seems that the Takara edition was truly dark silver-black whereas the later re-run by Takaratomy was mainly standard silver (especially around chest and arms). Is this true?

    Best regards

    DENNY

The first release is all black. The barrel an Megatron's chest are all black chrome.

For the second release the barrel and the chest are the traditional silver/grey color.

    Ebay:
Not to mention the first release was limited to 1000. The second release can be had for less than retail.

And for all you customizers out there, the second one comes with a sheet of Decepticon symbols on clear stickers. Did the first black Megatron have blue inner parts or red? The second had red.

Thanks alot for the fast replies. I just had that hinch, since I nearly found no pics on google. How much does a MISB one 1st Edition by Takara go today if they are indeed limited to 1000 pcs ?!

I'll say between USD $250 (if you're lucky) to $300 these days. :)

The chrome on the original is a smoky silver/gray too, it's not actually black (I have it).

Besides the packaging I'm tending to think there isn't very much difference. The chrome on the original was very delicate too, not sure if that was fixed for the first one.

Both had red insides, the only Megatron released recently with the blue insides was the Megaplex version.

Yeah, I think I'm gonna have to chase down Megaplex and take a screwdriver to switch the panels out.

He's probably even harder to get than the Black one at this point.

I have one, he's pretty cool (Blue Bumblebee that is). Megaplex is nice too, I don't have to worry about chrome chipping when I transform him.

They have been on these boards for sub $200 many times, you just have to be patient.
