Other than the price of course?
The color's different. GF has more gold to it.
Cybertron version has a Decepticon logo on the chest, GF version doesn't.
The GF version has chrome, I don't beleive the Cybertron version does.
The GF one also has some QC issues on his legs and waist which are fixed on the Cybertron version.
-GF has silver paint on his cheeks
-GF has gold chrome on the insides of his tailfins
-Gold paint on wings is applied differently on both versions
-Cybertron Laserbeak missing silver arrow on his back
-Cybertron has a Decepticon insignia on his chest
-Cybertron has darker gray plastic
-IIRC, Cybertron version still has chrome on the cockpit "sunroof"
The chest door was remolded slightly on the inside for the Soundblaster and Cybertron releases, probably for strength issues, possibly for smoothness of operation. Galaxy Force Soundwave has an area on the hinges for his hip plates where it looks like something was sliced off manually with a sharp blade. Soundblaster and Cybertron Soundwave feature much cleaner molding in this area.
And some instances of Galaxy Force Soundwave had issues with the pin connecting his pelvis to his chest being driven in at an angle, causing his jet mode to become out of alignment. Not an issue with the Cybertron release.
If you want a good toy, Cybertron version is the way to go.
If you want a good display piece, go for the Galaxy Force version.
I love my GF version, but if the Cybertron version had fully painted the head like the GF version, I'd have waited it out and gotten that one instead.
Galaxy Force : superior deco
Cybertron : superior quality control
i never even knew there was a gf soundwave i just always saw the regular cybertron version around my llocal stores and online
Galaxy Force as in "made by Takara for the Galaxy Force series". The Cybertron version is made by Hasbro for the Cybertron series.
Yeah, no relation to the "Galaxy Force" Optimus Prime and Vector Prime repaints, a name which was essentially a nod to the series across the ocean.
Confusing, ain't it?
For the record, my Galaxy Force Soundwave has no QC issues whatsoever.
GF has Blue, Red, and Yellow Rambles and Cybertron has only Red and Yellow
wow didn't even notice it said Soundwave in the thread title, fuck I need to wake up, thanks for pointing that out MX
And that was remarkably off topic...
And my GF Soundwave didn't have any QC issues, either. I'm still convinced that most people who complained of the mis-aligned hips were just transforming him wrong. The instructions for this guy were particularly bad, even the Japanese ones. Following them just results in a wreck of an alt. mode.
