Ok so we have twins like Sunstreaker and Sideswipe.

and clones lets say Pounce and Wingspan, and Cloudraker and Fastlane.

So what is the difference between the clones and the twins?

Is the clone made after the one robot was created, therefore not really being twins? Then are they brothers?

    Also would you consider

Eject and Rewind or Frenzy and Rumble twins? brothers?
    What about Runabout and Runamuck?

In this case, clones are designed to appear identical in their robot forms. The other sets of siblings are either identical (Rumble/Frenzy) or set up as a storytelling element (Sideswipe/Sunstreaker).

In the case of Sunstreaker and Sideswipe, they happen to share the same Spark... don't ask me how that's so.

As for the clones, I'm sure it's fairly common---in the Transformers universe---for some bots to be made from a pre-existing protoform mold.

Yeah Sunny and Sides share a spark, one spark that was split into 2.

Yes but from what you are saying, wouldn't that be like just using the same mold? Seekers, and Fairlady Z's kind of thing. But they are different from clones right? So what is the difference?

The seekers would have come off the same line and given different abilities and different personalities (via separate sparks) whereas the clones are delibertly designed to appear and act alike for tactical purposes. You can tell Thundercracker from Starscream apart immediatly. That's not so much the case with Cloudraker and Fastlane.

For example, if I were to see you in combat and then turned a corner and saw someone who looked like you but was wearing a different outfit, I would quickly surmise that there was someone who looked just like you. However, if I was to see you and turn the same corner and see an identical person wearing the same clothes, I would stop and wonder how you got there so fast. You could sieze this moment of confusion and shoot me in the back, which hopefully you would never do because then my last thought would be, "what did I ever do to ILoveDinobot?" which might be misconstued if I said it aloud in my confusion and I don't want someone having "I Love Dinobot" etched on my tombstone thinking it had some profound meaning in my life. Not that there's anything wrong with loving Dinobot, it's just that Beast Wars didn't have that significant impact on my life. So I suppose what I'm saying here is - please don't shoot me in the back.

As far as I know, they have different personalities. How that is so is beyond my speculation. I'm not quite sure if they properly explained these sorts of things in any of the series.

I would say all clones are twins but not all twins are clones.

After reading the TFA comic, Jetstorm and Jetfire are twins before they volunteer to undergo their flight upgrades and become Safeguard even though it's Starscream clone technology that allows for the Autobots to develop autobot flight modes for the first time.

There's usually more freaky fanfics written about twins than there is about clones.

    For now.

    Clones = Mass-produced. Mostly non-sentient.
Twins = Have a bond between their sparks.

According to the Dreamwave explanation listed in the TFwiki, twins apparently share a spark that split naturally when infused into the protoforms. For clones on the other hand, the splitting of the spark was induced artificially somehow.

    You win the thread.

Hot fembot twins, or rampage-of-destruction twins? Just so's I know what to ask Google...

So, if you cloned twins, you could have the best of both worlds. :)
