Well, Prowl went out without even getting a line in, if I remember right. So that sucked.

You never even saw Wheeljack's death, just his corpse after the fact. So that sucked.

Starscream was toast after one shot. Just once I wanted to see a real fight between him and Mega/Galvatron, and it never happened. So that sucked.

I liked Hot Rod in the movie, seemed like a cool enough bot, had a pretty sick alt mode. Then he went prime and turned into an RV looking thing. So that sucked.

Arcee is aces though.

 

When I first saw it, I was disappointed that Wheeljack bit the rust (intentional). But watching it today, I'm even more sad that we never saw how he went down.

 

He was in most episodes of season 3, he was just invisible the whole time  

Seriously though, like many characters he just dropped out of the series never to be seen again.

My favourite character didn't just survive the movie, he was responsible for killing Prime! Poor Hot Rod!

My other favourite kind of had to be destroyed or he'd have eaten Cybertron. Yeah, I decided I liked those guys when I saw the thing for the first time. It was marketing new toys to kids and I'm one of the kids who it worked on.

 

Sigh... I rather he die back then and get good characterization and survive TFTM07.

Like Brawn said, he's a pussy, that's why he survived.  

 

That movie was quite a dose of shock (watching all those bots get killed) and awe (Unicron) as a kid. But I ended up walking out of the movie theater with a new favorite TF, Galvatron.

 

I still harbor a conspiracy theory that Wheeljack and Sideswipe survived.

In the Movie, "Sideswipe" was a miscolored Wheeljack (I don't care what the script says on this, Sunstreaker wouldn't let his brother die) and Wheeljack later appears in TF Victory and I don't believe it's an animation error. Perceptor and Minverva alone couldn't have turned the dying God Ginrai into Victory Leo. Wheeljack had to come back. Anway, Wheeljack and Sideswide surive in the BinAlt line.
I think Wheeljack had been working on a protoform version of a Stasus Lock. You don't seen their tombs in Dark Awakening either.  

Anyway, I was glad Hound, Sunstreaker, Tracks, Jazz, Cliffjumpr, Bumblebee and yes. even the Dino Clowns of S3 clearly surivied.

Finally, the shock of seeing Starscream die was almost as great as seeing Optimus Prime die. Something just wasn't right with the world after Optimus Prime died. I still love the badly written TROOP.

I think Wheeljack is laughing at all of us.  

 

My favorite as a kid, Starscream died and I gained nothing because my family could not get season 3 on our TV listings.

 

- Megatron - Yes and no. Technically, his body survived, but he wasn't the same character.
- Galvatron - Yes and no. Physically lived, but the character was completely derailed right away in Season 3, so "movie Galvatron" might as well not have survived.
- Starscream - No.
- Skywarp - Yes and no. Survived physically as Cyclonus and/or part of the 'armada' (I prefer "Skywarp = Cyclonus" personally), but the actual character was gone.
- Cyclonus - Yes.
- Unicron - No.
- Optimus Prime - No.
- Shockwave - Missing, presumed dead.

 

86 movie...being 6 the deaths of Prowl, Brawn, Starscream, Wheeljack, and Prime scarred me more than any horror movie ever could at that young age.

Even in high school, but getting a VHS copy of the movie I had vivid memories of all those deaths.

I did miss Ironhide, as I also did miss old Windcharger, all I saw was his body with Wheejacks' being dragged, I did not see how Windcharger died. My other character and this is my second favourite after Windcharger was Inferno? What happened to him? Did he make it?

But it's a good topic, so it should be fun to revisit.

 

My favorite TF was Starscream, so no. My second favorite was Jazz, so that was nice, but my third was probably Prowl, and I really liked Ironhide and Optimus, of course. I could live many life-times without ever wanting to see or know about Rodimus, Glavatron, Wheelie, Springer, etc.

 

Soundwave was alive, but my Autobot Favorite (Wheeljack) died,

So yeah

Some say yes, some say no. Wheeljack has always been up in the air. he looks dead, but appears in Victory along with perceptor and re-builds Ginrai into victory leo.

 

Blaster survived, although it was the Marvel Comics version of the character that made him a personal favorite.

Grimlock and Soundwave too.

Otherwise, they all bought it: Shockwave, Starscream, Megatron, and Optimus Prime.

It was not a good day to die.

Jetfire fared much better in the Marvel comic, where he lasted post-movie all the way through issue #50:

And if you scroll down in that page, it's also possible he survived the movie as well in the cartoon.

 

Tracks did.Skids did.Silverstreak did.Soundwave did.

But poor Prowl,Brawn and Wheejack didn't.

 

Almost all of my favorites with the exception of Jazz, Soundwave, and Grimlock died. :/ though I got Wreck-Gar, Galvatron, and Kup as new favorites during the film.
