    Also having rewatched the movie, both times he uses his gun (blowing up Abe, gunning down Sentinel) is with his left hand.

    So that pretty much puts a nail in "He can hold anything with his old hand"'s coffin.

    What gun did Megatron hold in his hand in the first movie? And what massive cannon? In the first movie his arms combined into a sniper rifle.
