Did you get a blue-faced Universe Ironhide? If so, what'd you do about it?

I'm finally getting a Universe Ironhide, but unfortunately his face is blue. I was wondering if anyone else has this version, and if you custom painted his face, or what?

Anyone who customized this, would u mind posting pictures and what tools/paints you used to do it?

Not sure if the silver-faced running change was ever released?

Anyway yes I painted mine, don't have pics to hand (and too lazy to go upstairs haha) but it was just a case of a small brush, some silver paint and the figure :)

I would go the paint and paint brush route myself. But I know of a lot of people who went ahead and used a silver colored sharpie.

I think pretty much all of them were blue. I actually kinda like mine... I left it blue. I think I've always enjoyed Transformers with different-than-silver faces. Tracks, the Stunticons, Blades, etc.

But if you don't like it, yeah, probably just a bit of silver paint would do the trick. Henkei Ironhide's face looks kinda cool in matte warm grey, as well.

Yea, I think the blue looks kinda' crappy. Even looking at Ex's pic I'm just like "wtf" (even though that's a fun pic). I just don't buy it as Ironhide because his face is so blatantly gray with red eyes in the show.

I'm looking at paint markers too. But, if I go the paint route, is there anything like priming, washing, or applying thinner before?

I don't think primer is gonna be an issue, as it's nothing is gonna be touching his face. So it wouldn't have anything to rub off on.

For it to be easier, go with a fine sharpie, no drips...it just easier, I did that to gens jazz rims...

I think you meant blue eyes.

I just went Henkei. I wanted a Classics Ironhide just cuz and found him cheap enough. I still wish there existed a decent Classics Ratchet.

Silver Sharpie. Now that I have the Henkei version, I almost wish I had kept this one blue. I have pretty shakey hands, but taped the edges a little bit, and a silver sharpie does wonders on it. It is rigid enough that you do not see any sharpie marks. If you want pics, take a look at the gallery over on Seibertron, that is what he used: Ironhide - Universe - Classics 2.0 - Toy Gallery - Photos 1 - 25

I haven't done it to mine yet, but based on the results of the Silver Sharpie on my RTS Jazz and Blurr, that's the route I'm going to go with. Looks pretty sharp with less chance of spillage, but I'm kind of clumsy with a brush myself.

I don't own a classics Ironhide, but a friend commissioned me to fix his up. All I did was simply disassemble the head, which removes the light piping from the face, then paint the blue face with some silver paint. I made sure to go into the eye sockets where red or blue might show to get a cohesive look.

I kept mine as is. The proposed silver-face running change never happened.

I used actual silver paint, and a brush. Looks perfect, I covered all the blue, and it's a really thin coat that doesn't dull any of the details. I will never understand people who use sharpies. They rub off, and generally look really bad.

there's blue visible at the edges of the face, where the sharpie tip couldn't reach.

^Well, I am not a painter, don't see myself rubbing his face, and thing it looks great. I don't think the use of it on such a small area is even noticable to make it look terrible with all the ridges and details on his face. I would never use one on a large flat surface, but then again, the only thing I have ever customized was a Rodimus to go under my black armor, and in that process determined that painting/customizing isnt for me.

No way, I bought the Henkei and got the silver face as well as the chrome gun that homages his G1 toy a lot better. You should do that.
