did the writers drop the ball by trying to include too much?

    imo they did.

I was very worried when i heard there was going to be a pretender, revived megatron, megatrons new alt mode, devestator, the fallen, combiner arcee, jet fire/prime combo, and sams parents finding out about the transformers on earth. I was worried that they wouldnt be able to find time to fit all of these things in the movie properly, and it looks like my fears have been realized.

im wishing orci and kurtzman decided to not do the sequel, and im really hoping that they wont do a 3rd.

one good thing though is that the fallen revealed the transformers race to earth meaning dinobots have an easy in for a 3rd movie now

my only major disappointment was that there wasn't much bot character development, save for a few moments. To me, personally, if there is a third film, it needs to focus on the bots nearly exclusively and leave the human element to a minimum.

Will this happen? Probably not because of budgeting and wanting the movie to reach a much broader audience (and humans in a live-action movie will accomplish that). I think there was just a little too much action in this film. Remove some of the action and replace it with some well-conceived character development to push the narrative further - rather than relying on action set-pieces to push the narrative along - and a third film will succeed greatly.

i agree, you can have an action movie with character development, its not like you cant have both...the main problem though is that the writers kill off all of the robots forcing them to start all over again for the next movie - or include new characters for no reason since they dont do anything. That time can be used to help give a diff character more importance.

They definitely included a lot, but aside from the underuse of Devastator, Soundwave, and The Fallen I didn't mind.

I prefer more robots so ROTF was ok with me. I just like to buy lots of toys.

I think they dropped the "balls"

I say that because apparently they really love testicle-related humour...

Yeah, the pacing felt a little to rushed in order to fit everything in. What really suffered in my opinion was the little momments. I was expecting more with the Transformer characters in this one... but the Twins and Wheelie got most of the lines. There just wasn't any momments that featured the Autobots interacting with each other.... at least in the first one they had a couple scenes.

There were times once they got to the dessert that I was actually bored. The big battle at the end, while technicly great... didn't really entertain.... there was just so much going on and I didn't really care much about the characters because they weren't properly developed.

Again, the inane Lowest-Common-Denominator comic relief was my biggest gripe. Just like in the first movie.

The 12-year-olds in front of me loved it, though. OMG Dogs humping. OMG, Devastator has balls. OMG, the Mom took pot. OMG, tha TWINZZZ....
