Nah, there was a bunch of custom silver Classic Megatrons going around at the time.
Not too many shades of silver I guess. Even mine looks like it.

Well realistically, I just look at this way. Yes, it is close. Yes it is based on G1, of course, they all are. But there are a lot of similar cues, and the only difference is where the red is on the arms and in the inner thighs. They could have done a lot of different things, which they did not.

I understand it both ways. I just think it's wild that they look so close is all. Could be a coincidence of course. But besides Galvatron, the reissues of the same molds don't usually have a better paint job then the original Henkei release. Also, the Henkei and the United are so similar that there are barely any changes that are significantly different from what he did.

Like I said, could be a coincidence.

There are more differences than that....

Like many people have said already, it's ALL based on the G1 color scheme. United doesn't use chrome. So YES, it IS a stretch to say Takara ripped of a customizers paint scheme.

Yeah a bunch of us came up with that same color scheme. It's called looking at the cartoon model.

My thinking was that some of the employees from Hasbro commented at a Botcon panel that they had to make Classics Megs a certain color scheme for toy laws, and that some Radicon "would paint it the right color anyways". For anyone present at that Botcon panel (near the release of the Classics line, and I wasn't there, so I don't know specifically), could you confirm this? While either the Henkei or United figures do have a G1 color scheme, the specificity of Hasbro saying this would refute any such claim by any one customizer regardless of what leg they're trying to stand on, even despite the G1-being-Hasbro's claim (which is stronger anyways).

wow guys, thanks for disputing over my custom. i got my inspiration from pics of G1 Meg and went with that. i will say that when united was shown the paint was more metallic than norm. but saying they stole off me, in one point is a compliment, but i'm sure they went with there own ideas. so, thanks for the credit, but if i was an inspiration, i still owe it to the G1 cartoon and all the customizers who probably did it before me. so, i'll say we all inspired them to come out with the united paint scheme. but thank you anyway

Yeah, not that your custom doesn't look great. But there's no way Takara seriously copied your deco.

You all should see what Optimus Kimchee did to his WfC Prime... and then look at the United release.
