    Did Takara Have A Part In Designing the craptastic Ultimate Bumblebee?

    I remember reading somewhere that it was design solely by Hasbro with no Takara involvement. Is this true?

    edit: O snap, wrong discussion

    No, they can't. They made Sidearm Sideswipe cool. They can't!

    I think that was the case. Could be wrong though.

    Ultimate Bumblebee was a pure Hasbro design. See the packaging:

    All Takara co-designed toys feature a "Manufactured under license from TOMY Company, Ltd." note, like 2007 Deluxe Bumblebee here:

    Ultimate Bumblebee doesn't have that.

    Also, Ultimate Bumblebee was released via Tomy Direct in Japan. Tomy Direct releases are straight imports of Hasbro-designed toys, like the Star Wars Transformers or Robot Replicas.

    And I just checked my Ultimate Bumblebee. There's only a Hasbro copyright marking. No mention of Takara/Tomy.

    It does seem likely, most of the really bad transformers are all Hasbro designed (see the titanium line)

    On the other hand, toys Takara makes without Hasbro's input are usually frustrating shellformers (see Beast Wars Neo, the RiD Car Bros, Nike Convoy)

    (also the Titanium line was made by the Galoob division, not the normal Hasbro Transformers team)

    I wouldn't call the RID Car Brother shelf warmers, they didn't seem to linger on toy shelves, esp when compared to E. Ironhide.

    Weren't all of the Car Robot toys designed purely by Takara and only picked up by Hasbro when Hasbro decided to scrap the Trans Tech line?

    Shellformers =/= shelf-warmers.

    :lol  my bad.

    Still I wouldn't classify the RID car brothers as shellformers. Is there extra kibble sure, but it's certainly doesn't fall into the same category as Cyb Thunderblast or some of the BW Neo figures.
