Did Sentinel Prime only know Ironhide from Ironhide's past as a Decepticon?

    Also Sentinel should have killed everyone in the vicinity so Sideswipe, Bumblebee, Dino, Sam, Mearing and Lennox.


    Then Sentinel is truly Hardcore.

    It is curious isn' it. Sentinel wants to help his race to survive, but here he is killing Autobots. So was killing the Autobots part of the deal he made with Megatron?

    Quite possibly. Alternatively, Ironhide is pretty much the #2 Autobot in rank and strength. Slaying him gave him immediate access to the pillars. If he'd just yelled at everyone "give me the pillars, I'm working for Megatron" it would have been a real fight that could have severely damaged him.

    Shooting Optimus in the back would have been even better, but he wasn't there, he would have been harder to put down, and Sentinel is very attached to him.

    Yeah. I'd kill the powerful, eff-off gun carrying, badass veteran, second in command Autobot who just mopped the floor with the Dreads first. Ironhide is the biggest Autobot threat behind Optimus.

    If Sentinal had known that, then the audience would have known that. If it wasn't mentioned, or at least hinted in the movie, then it's irrelevant.
