Did no-one notice that Blackouts spinny weapon was NOT his rotor blades?

I realized it in the first showing (out of 3) and everyone still calls them his rotor blades.
I guess panels from his arm form the blade.

It looked too long to be a rear propeller, but maybe it extends?

It's not the rear propeller, it has six blades, the rear propeller only has four.

I noticed it the first time I saw it. (I was looking out for it) It seems to be a small rotor type weapon that comes from his forearm.

I had assumed it was his rear propeller as well.

I wonder why they wouldn't use his propeller. Seems plain easier to me.

In all honesty, I don't think even ILM knows where it comes from...

I think ILM knows what the bot mode looks like...they know what the alternate mode looks like...how to get from one point to the other must involve cheating, polygon-dropping, vanishing parts, mass shifting, you name it.

So uh. Yeah. I don't think even ILM knows where his rotor weapons come from.

I think I agree with you on that one. I thought I saw a little bit of morphing every once in a while. B ut then again, this reminds me of an earlier thread about animation cheats. But I wouldn't be at all suprised if the animators cheated here and there to get the job done.
But I'm pretty sure that BlackOuts blade weapon is his tail blades. Whatever they'e called.

I noticed that. It seems pretty weird, especially since in the game he does use the back rotors, and the toy's shoulder weapon seems to evoke that handweapon too. My guess is perhaps it was a goof, maybe the script called for him to use his rotors as weapons but when rendering it they discovered it physically was not possible for him to reach round and grab them, so they had him break out another one instead.

I'm almost positive that it was the rear tail rotor...I'm sure he can use both as weapons...

Actually it kinda reminds me of the cartoon series. Optimus would reach behind his back, and out would magically pop his rifle.

The blades transform out of his wrist. I caught it on the third viewing. They don't just magically appear, but technically there's no place in his arm for them to really go :p

If I had to guess why they didn't take him off his back as planned, I'd say they may have thought he looked too goofy without his "backpack", or perhaps because it's one of his major (only) physical distinguishing traits.

Yeah, I got a feeling ILM went that route...with regards to Prime...at least the movie showed him removing his rifle from his back via the back but the scene was too fast.

Prime's gun was actually most of the fuel tank from his back, (he has two) like I said, Blackout's weapon isn't the rotor since it has six blades not four.

Definitely the tail rotor, I guess using the main rotor didn't work out very well in animation or whatever.

They'd be pretty hard to swing around considering the tight space he was in too.
Can you see the tail rotor on Blackout's back on the CGI model, I know it's there in the toy but I can't recall if it's there on the screen?

its the tail rotor, i know this for a fact, it rests on his right arm and he extends it and opens the blades.

alot of opinions here are based off the toy. the toy transformations are not at all accurate for any of the characters in the movie
