After watching Darkest Hour, do you think megs made the right decision in keeping Dreadwing over SS.
I think he did, SS seems to be totally fanatical about the decepticon cause once again and a don't think dreadwing would have been too happy about cyberforming earth considering his honorable personality

Dreadwing was NOT going to kill Starscream. It looked like he had some kind of inhibition in him (like the "cheat codes" that Phase-sixers have) so no matter how serious he was about killing Screamer, he wouldn't have done it. By keeping him, Megatron could have had one more troop. Especially if he makes sure that one of them is on Cybertron and the other on Earth.

Note, Megs did not seem to notice that Dw gave Solus's MacGuffin to the Autobots.

Yes, he was going to kill him. He does not have any inhibition in him, he is just loyal to Megatron and therefore hesitant to disobey him.

Well, then that loyalty could have held him back. If Megs was just a little wiser to keep them apart.

    Also:
Megatron: "Hey I shot Dreadwing. That makes my in-series kill count TWO!
Starscream: "With your first kill being that poor unwinged vehicon two eps ago...."

    Uh oh...

I think he's after Caboose's team killing record!

    Back on topic...

True, but how was he to know considering how calm Dreadwing normally was?

Yes, big time. Keeping Starscream around will just come back to bite him in the ass.

The guy helped Megatron graverob and harvest the arm of a dead Prime. He's honorable in a Decepticon way, not what we tend to think of when we hear that word. He'd probably have been all for the Decepticons expanding their territory.

If you were to ask Megatron this question, I'm sure you'd hear him say something like no regrets. No matter how you look at it, he would have won. Starscream has been nothing short of a team player.

As the Decepticons won the second season, largely due to Starscream, this question seems a bit odd. It probably would have been better to ask this particular question a bit later...season 3?

While Dreadwing was a warrior and loyal his code of honor meant that Megatron couldn't ask everything of Dreadwing. It's possible that he'd object to using the children as a pawn but Starcream is so low down and rotten that no act is too despicable.

Really the only bad decision Megatron made was he should have restored Cybertron first then turned the lock on Earth.

This is a Megatron who has raised undead armies in the past and will probably do it again if he has to a second in command who considers that defilement is a liability.

I thought this was gonna be a thread about all the insane decisions he made during Darkest Hour.

Anyway, to the actual topic: Considering that Dreadwing's faith in the Decepticon cause was all but shattered at that point, Megatron made the right decision. Even if Megs killed Screamer instead, he'd still be left with a lieutenant he couldn't trust.

Leaving them both alive was also impossible, since Dreadwing all but stated that he considered the zombification of his twin an unforgivable offense.

Yes. Dreadwing was an interesting character but nothing compared to Starscream.

In fact, it was Starscream's scheming that put the children in play;)

I think Megatron was wise to allow Starscream to come back. I think Starscream is a much bigger threat to Megatron than Dreadwing. All the more reason to have him as an ally.

Starscream has been more successful and reliable these past 2 episodes.

Starscream's also someone you can scare back in line, you can't do that with Mr. Honor.

Not that Dreadwing should've died, it's just Megatron's decision made sense.

Because I want them to fix Starscream, I'm glad they kept him. Still, they could have at least finished DW's character arc the right way

Dreadwing had basically given up on the cons, so keeping Starscream was best to keep, because Starscream will still work for him; for now.

Starscream IS a big threat...When you keep him close. I think season 2 showed that he can't get shit done at all and have it last when he's on his own. :lol

Dreadwing was loyal but an ineffective second in command. Starscream is a constant threat to Megatron but he gets the job done often enough to be a better choice for a Decepticon commander because they don't care How their ends are achieved.
