Bioshock was out before TF1, and thus before the Big Daddy repaint. Maybe one isn't copyrighted. Was Big Daddy released as "Autobot Big Daddy"? :lol

I certainly hope so. The name "Big Daddy" just doesn't sit right with me as a transformer name.

I suppose Hasbro can't keep hold of every name they've used in the past.

The Big Daddy homage from the first movie was so incredible, its hard to imagine how they could top it.

I asked if there would be a "true" classics Big Daddy, and I was told that now that they made a modern one, chances are good we'll see more. For Joe Kyde if no other reason...

maybe the big daddy from bioshock name is based of a video game so the license doesn't interfere with hasbros?

I'm pretty sure you can use a name for a character without having a copyright for it, but the copyright helps when you want to merchandise the character.

As part of Hasbro new plan to tie every toy line into media, the upcoming Universe Big Daddy will be renamed "Autobot Big Lebowski".

Lanard's "The Corps" line of figures have introduced several characters that feature names similar to those found on GI Joe and Transformers (notably,a villian named "Ravage'). But none of these have the little "trademark" symbol by the names, so I believe you are right (except the proper term is "trademark" not "copyright" :p  )

Yay! Big Daddy comes from my town. He was awesome.

And I think it's a silly name for a Transformer, because I just think of the wrestler when I hear it.
