I was watching a video review of Defensor on Youtube the other day and the reviewer mentioned Hot Spot having a base mode, similar to that of Menasor and Onslaught. But, he didn't show it.

So, did he? I'd find it odd that he would was I figured is was a very Decepticon thing and it doesn't seem that Silverbolt had this feature either.

So, does someone have an answer and more importantly, pictures?

Oh yeah, it's a repair bay. It's in his instructions and he even attaches to Metroplex!

As far as I know all the Special Teams had some kind of base/weapons platform mode for their leader. Even the Terrorcons and Technobots.

Yeah, RiD Prime's base mode is better. But not bad for a G1. I like the emergency car carrier mode that's also in the instructions. Technically, Hot Spot has FIVE official modes!

Can anyone provide a link to images of said base modes? Will the TFW database have them?

And finally....I knew the Protectibots could attach to Metroplex, but in robot mode. So, I imagine Hotspot attaches in city or base mode, but where?

TFW's Resource section definitely has the base modes. I just linked you to TFU's since I already had a tab open.

As mentioned above, Hun-Gurr's is unofficial, but Scattorshot's has the distinction of being the only one to be shown in the animation.

I wish "Scrambled!" was still archived someplace, that had the BEST info on the Scramble-leader's base modes, and documented how not only only HotSpot and Silverbolt, but also Onslaught and Motormaster connected to Metroplex in base mode (The two 'Con's doing so more convincingly in fact), which brings up all KINDS of questions about the Scramble-line's development and history (Mostly that it pre-dates factions, there is some evidence to suggest it was in planning during Diaclone).

I so love that Metroplex is just a big Scramble-whore (See also his shoulder and knee connectors), which also leads to interesting notions about "The Destron Generals" in Zone and MetroTitan...

Hun-Grrr doesn't have a base mode in his instructions, but he's articulated enough that one could be invented. Scattershot's base mode is called a rocket launcher and it's in his instructions as well:

I'm pulling all these from our Resources section, BTW! :)

Tryppy's combined-with-Onslaught-And-MotorMaster form was documented (And I was OBSESSED with it as a kid, as I had Tryppy but not the other 2), but it was a desperately-obvious afterthought requireing the L-bracket add-ons, and even THEN the connections aren't very solid. Whereas the Destron->Metroplex connections are pretty darn solid.

So wierd, and so cool :)

I don't recall Snaptrap having a base mode, though I don't have his instructions to hand right now.
