Did anyone else get sick of the battle city environments?

The Final battle in the city in the first movie was awesome cause it was fresh and new. Then the 2nd film tried something new by showing the decepticon invasion on a larger scale by going to egypt,uk and especially the forest battle .taking the battles outside of a closed in environment that was one of the things I liked about the 2nd film. However when I saw DOTM and when the final battle took place in chicago I just felt like id seen this before. Dont get me wrong it was still awesome but I dont know if it was just me but it felt a bit repetitive.

You know what would've been epic? A fight in the snow, or a fight underwater.

The battle of Chicago seemed to TAKE FOREVER. Maybe it was all the "Sam and Co. escaping the tipping over building scenes" or something, but upon my very first viewing it just seemed to DRAG ON. And I'm not a man, there should have been no humans, only bots fan either but the bot on bot action scenes were the only good part of that very VERY long drawn out part of the film IMHO.

Repetitive? Aren't the entire movie's themselves repetitive? ;)

But I get what you're saying. At least they threw in some new and fresh things within the final battle to try and make it different than the first movie's final battle. ...Like more explosions. :lol  But really, there's only so much you can do in a "climactic battle in a city". After a while, they'll start to look the same no matter what you do or no matter what franchise.

    This. Or a mountain-y environment.

We should have a battle taking place in a castle, in the middle of a mountain range, with snow.

Why did I think this thread was going to be about Yu-Gi-Oh when I read the title?

And nah, I preferred the city. At least it felt more dangerous and strategic when the Decepticons were taking over the city and the humans were sniping from different buildings rather than just shooting at each other in a desert.

See thats the thing though I preferred the egypt and forest environments over the city environments and also the quick glimpse of cybertron in the 2nd movie at least bay attempted to experiment in that film but clearly he felt he needed to do something familiar in the final movie.

Maybe it's too many World War II documentaries and too much stuff like Warhammer 40K but I don't mind the ruined city all that much. If there is some good architecture to the city so that every street and every building doesn't look alike then I manage to pick out a lot of little details that make it fun.

The battle that seemed to never end was the battle of Egypt in the second film. I could see where some people would find the battle of Chicago kind of long but it felt like about the right length to me.

A fight at night.in the rain would've been awesome. IMO I think it would've been better if ironhide died in an environment like that instead

Disappointing how DotM and RotF went with city and desert battles when TF1 gave us both already.

I had no problems seeing Chicago being destroyed, because we almost NEVER get destroyed in big movies. We're always the aside while L.A. or New York is pulverized.

If not for the coolness factor, one has to figure we could have just dropped the whole 'let's scale the building to take a shot even though it's listing precariously' to save time.

I felt the desert battle in ROTF was the one that just went on for too damn long.

Nope. I still remember 3/4 of the way through that entire desert battle, a voice in my head suddenly going, 'please end soon!'

I've never gotten 'battle fatigue' while watching a film before.
