I don't really understand much about comics, although I read a few here and there. What's this incentive that they're talking about?

I'm thinking that I might get the Autocracy TPB - I know that Livio's art is considered at least kind of iffy, but I've heard good things about the story.

It means they have a special cover that retailers can get if they order certain amounts of the comic. In this case, for every 10 of the regular cover, they qualify for 1 of the special incentive cover. Some shops will sell the special ones for more than the regular price, because some comic collectors like having the rarer covers.

The idea is to convince shops to order more than they usually would. For example, if a retailer planned to buy fifteen issues of the comic, they might bump up the order to twenty so they could get two incentive covers instead of one.

Incentive covers are given to retailers who order over a certain amount. So this one here says the ratio is one in ten. If the retailer orders 100 books, 10 of them will have a special cover, that the retailer can then decide if they want to charge more for. In the case of TF books, incentive covers are often the main cover artwork, but with no colour added(i.e., the ink, black and white).

Well, maybe I'll go through the wiki's synopses of the issues and/or take another look over this site's reviews or something to help with my decision - and of course if I do decide to get the TPB, I don't have to right away.

Gotcha. So they're referring to those special, limited amount covers. Thanks for the explanation.

I'm looking forward to Classics UK volume 3 more than all the other books.
