Sounds like good news. Anyway, I hope so...
Cool, thanks for the link, Shaun C
I don't put much faith in anything that Lorenzo Di Bonaventura says, because it seems he usually doesn't know what he's talking about, but good to read anyhow
With less than 4 months to go, it does seem odd to me that not one effects shot is complete. But if anyone knows effects, it's the guys at ILM.
Are any of the people that have been shown this footage anyone on here? Can they confirm the awesomeness of the footage?
Hmmm, this is prolly just another ploy to sway us into more excitment......IT TOTALLY WORKED, I WANT TO SEE THE MOVIE
I know first hand that CGI and robots takes time. This stuff can't be cooked overnight. believe me. five minutes can take more than five days, add in the complexity of each bot, we're looking at this film being finished well around the release date by a few weeks.
I hope he also means to complete some of the TFs looks(Starscream)!!!
He's probably talking about that screening at Toyfair.
I'm not surprised at all; some of these shots could well take weeks to plan, work out and animate. And then they need rendering.
Slow ol' business, 3D work. Can't wait to see what theycome out with.
This comment, "some web sites have been strategically shown footage" makes it sound like something else.
Quoted for the ever-lovin' truth.
Reminds me of his response to the fans wanting original voice actors in the film. He doesn't seem to think much before he speaks, does he?
Dear Mr. DiBonaventura,
What we "think we've seen" that has led us to our "assumptions about what [The Transformers] are going to look like" are the following:
Rendered images for tie-in books
Character art from toy packages
Rendered images for promotional use (Empire magazine cover, Toy Fair displays)
Photos of toys (while not movie-accurate, do confirm much of the designs)
Frames from the teaser trailer containing images that match concept art
I do hope this clears up where our "assumptions" have come from. Please explain why what we think the Transformers are going to look like is "all wrong" as our "assumptions" were made based partially on official images. Please also note that your comment was regarding what the Transfomers will "look like" and was not specific to any movement, or characterization.
With only 4 months, I hope they get it done in time. I hope we don't see it pushed back.
Now that we can count the movie's release in weeks, shouldn't there be another trailer soon?
Hey I don't think it's been posted but the GM partnership article is up on the official movie site now.
I reckon we'll see three "mini-trailers" soon.
"Humans", "Autobots" and "Decepticons".
Mostly bits from the current trailer but with additional shots of the Transformers (mostly in vehicle modes) and a bit of "luvvie" between Sam and the chicky.
So Di Bonaventura is saying that the Blackout sequence wasn't even finished? I cannot wait to see what the final results will be.
Depending on the complexity of the composition, a CGI shot can take days to render... ONE frame.
That sounds about right. A few special effects houses were at a festival at our uni last month and they were saying that they usually end up working on effects shots pretty much right up to the release date.
