After Breaking Bad started this season, I realized how much Dexter sucks lately. I now have no interest in seeing how this ends.
I skipped this season in favor of HBO-True Blood/Game of Thrones. I talked up dexter so much the first 4 seasons, then it just went down hill. I'll still watch the last season, for closure I suppose...
Oh man, exactly. The pacing, editing, and writing of Breaking Bad is no comparison. I've watched Dexter since the beginning with a glimmer of hope it would improve, but has been so disappointing since the end of season 4. Glad it's over and don't have to anticipate another episode.
I was following the final season for Dexter when Time Warner and CBS got into the dispute, so I didn't bother to play catch up. I'll have to find some other way to get caught up to speed.
I've never watched a single episode of DEXTER but is it true that the series narrative died after the 4th season when Executive Producer and show runner Clyde Phillips exited?
This season started off good and quickly went downhill. What a letdown... This is how it should have ended: ‘Dexter’ Finale: Former Producer Had Another Ending In Mind | The Inquisitr News
I guess that goes to show how important a show runner can be that has a clear vision of the material and what happens to a Tv-Series Production when that show runner is shown the door. You get Dexter seasons 5 - 8 the 4 years of your time you would like back.
I can't even believe I stayed with this show to the bitter end. What a boring pile of shit. Fucking fuck nuggets!
If I could tier all 8 seasons, it'd look something like this. 1 2 4 7 5 3 6 8 To me, the tipping point started somewhere around Season 5. I really loved what they did with Rita at the end of Season 4. I kept thinking that things were going to get more difficult for him. But then he found an overly available nanny, Astor and Cody moved away, and Quinn started getting butthurt over Deb.
Thanks to the Dexter marathon on Showtime I was able to watch all of Season 4 and I agree it's one of the best seasons. It's true that after that season you never get the sense that Dexter is ever in danger of revealing his true identity. Everything seems to be too easy for him, either that or the Police are bunch of hacks. Deb makes the show somewhat entertaining with her constant drama but at the end of the day, it's a lot of what ifs and what could have beens. Just take a look at Breaking Bad to see an example of show that is well written from beginning to end. Too bad Dexter can't be like it.
I can't help but to think that they are setting this up for a movie. There is no way the series could end so lame. Harrison will end up with Dexter on the table at some point.
That would have been a good ending. You idiot you should have stuck with it. I wouldn't be surprising if that's their intention. Despite the fact i didn't watch the last episode fully...it definitely did not have the feel of a finale.
