I'm personally glad Bay had the cojones to put them in. Sure, they were a somewhat childish gag, just hanging there like that, but come on, every generation has its stupid humor. In fact, I'd like to make the tentative argument that stupid humor is one of the many attributes that have made transformers what it is today.

And YES, Devastator's massive balls could EASILY be seen as symbolically representative of Bay's own.

However, I don't believe he'd give critics the satisfaction of allowing them to actually succeed in their attacks in HIS movie...and, in any case, they didn't fire upon his balls anyway.
