I came to an odd conclusion, watching ROTF... Devestator is not a combination of the other Constructicons, he merely is A Constructicon. He transforms into a fleet of construction vehicles, then back into one robot mode. All are connected to the one conscience. Basically the same idea initially proposed for Arcee, but ultimately ditched in favor of the triplets.
In the movie, there is no hint that Arcee, Chromia, and Purplebike share any bond outside of sisterhood. When sisters get shot, there is no reaction other than horror.

The other constructicons we see as robots (LongHaul, Mixmaster, etc) are not connected in anyway to Devestator. That also explains why when Devestator takes the railgun to the gut, he falls apart into chunks that do not convert to individual robot modes.

    Does this make sense?

For the most part, this is correct. Aside from Mixmaster, I don't think we saw any of the other components have individual robot modes.

It would make sense as to why the Supreme Devastator toy does not have robot alt modes.

    It makes perfect sense, actually.

Mixmaster, Long Haul, and Rampage are never actually seen as being a part of one another, or a part of Devastator.

This would actually make a whole bunch of sense.

the only reason the individual components (in both Arcee and Devastator) are named...is to help sell the toys. Nothing more, nothing less.

You also don't see Soundwave as a robot, does this mean that Soundwave and Ravage share only 1 mind and Soundwave has no robot mode ?

Maybe scavenger has the ability to absorb vehicles into himself to become devastator

I still find it funny how most of these robots never had actual names.

    Ravage was among those

In the Arcee sister's defense... I don't think you have time to react in horror on the battlefield. Or else you get shot.

But yeah, I totally agree about the Devastator thing.

The Devastator theory makes perfect sense. This also explains why when demolisher died it didn't have any affect on Devastator and we didn't see him the rest of the movie.

Just because we don't see Demolishor combine does not mean that Demolishor cannot combine. What I heard is that all Constructicons can combine. It is also obvious to me that all Constructicons have robot modes except for the ones in the $100 Devastator toy.

The theory fits the movie but not the toys. The parts of devs are all named as the known constructicon characters on the toy boxes. I wish they had done it properly and not arsed around with it.
