The Wiki says its a prequel to the first game, so it may just be...

I mirror the "more like first, less like second" sentiment. I loved the city hopping cyberpunk thriller mystique of these games.

you play as Adam Jensen who starts out as working security for some research place, shit goes pear shaped when the place gets hit and the story begins. From what i've read.

Less mall security, and probably more private military contract type of guy.

Since it's a prequel, Nanotech biomods wont be in use, so all your augments are mechbased (like Gunther and Anna from DX1). I hope that means a skull gun somewhere.

here is a summary of info pinned on the offical Edios boards:http://forums.eidosgames.com/showpost.php?p=850237&postcount=1

Color me interested. I loved the first game, and even liked playing through the second.

Read about this in a local magazine, they're going for a very steampunkish approach with heavy Da Vinci/Renaissance elements. They're also going for a somewhat cartoonized/painted look to set it apart, but it's only minor. Sounds good to me, though I only played bits of part 1 and 2.

How could they go streampunk? It's a dystopian future already at the point where cybernetics are already common, the non nano machine kind.

I'll mirror the hope for it being more like the first and MUCH less like the second. I loved the original but hated the follow up.

I might be minority but I really did like the followup. It was one of the best games I played on Xbox.

Thanks a lot for the link! :D

I'm excited for it, I'm probably taking the trailer too literal, but I guess that in ye olde days, some fellas tampered with genetics too soon and created Icarus. Then in the future (but Deus Ex's 1 past) they created a guy from Icarus' genetic code and made the dude we see in that trailer.

    ^^^
#2 Wasnt bad at all. Some people just got bitter that the game play interface was stream lined and you didnt get XP, I was too but liked how it worked out in the end, passive augs FTW. I think that the locations in Deus Ex 2 where actually smaller and would quests would cause you to walk back to the same locations, at least it was pretty. If there's one thing I have to bitch about too, is that Deus Ex 2 has what I call "Omni-Ammo". All your guns shared the same ammo. Thats stupid, if I run out of my shotgun shells, I whould be able to switch to my pistol and pour out rounds until about-to-be-dead-bad-guy is dead.

So, what does everything think about the Square-Enix move? Square-Enix bought Eidos and now if we start seeing Tomb Raider games again, Square-Enix's logo will be on it. Heck it's already happened with Just Cause 2. Personally, I cheer for this sort of change, I think that there's going to be more backing in Deus Ex, and be able to pull from the 3D model teams of Square, and it still wont look like a bunch of tall fleshy anime faced people, hurray.
