Got my missus a 16Gb USB for £14 from play.com months ago. $43 for a 2GB is uber steep.

Same here, (if I get one at all). That is an awesome Ravage, and I would love to have it, but not at $43. That's ridiculous...

... and that's coming from a guy who sells custom toys. This isn't a custom. Takara-Tommy will be making tens of thousands of these (if not 100s of k). I know (as a fact as of 2004) Hasbro won't touch a new toy idea unless they think it could make at minimum 200k units (preferably millions). T-T isn't as big as Hasbor, but even at only 10k units (witch I think is a low estimate) given the cost of mold design, manufacture, electronics and other materials (which I've researched); there is no possible economic reason (other than greed) for that price.

Pass, but I'm not happy about it. I love that mold.

This assumes that there are other lower cost converting 2GB flash drives.

I guess the consensus is that yes, it is pricey, but to some, it's worth it. :)  But we can also all agree that at least in regards to the design, it's really great looking.

So given all the factors of it's an import, it's licensed, it's 2GB, and it's Ravage what's a fair price for him do you think. Realistically. You can't compare Ravage to a $10 2GB flash drive because it's more than just a drive.

It's overpriced yes but it does look cool, knowing me I'll probably get it anyways.

This looks like the most articulated Ravage ever. Even competing with the much larger Alternators figure.

And the capacity really is a non-issue. Would anyone really actually USE this thing as their active flash drive? I sure as hell wouldn't. Even if it was 8 gigs or more. If anything it would only stay at home connected to my PC as storage for Transformers stuff. I'd never toss it in my pocket or bag and leave home with it. Too scared of breaking it.

Well it does look articulated, but not to the point of it being an Alternator, which would turn into a convincing looking care, where Ravage justs fold up into a rectangle.

And about the USB thing, that even undercuts it even more. Because from the responses, it looks like many won't actually used the USB, so it ends up being non-essential. And if they are justifying the price because it is a fully functioning USB, that makes it worse.

"Articulated" <> "turns into convincing alt mode".

7.99? This isn't a Hasbro/TakaraTOMY produced scout size class toy, sold at retail in the U.S.

This is a very small toy, with R&D most likely paid for by TakaraTOMY alone, that needs to accommodate non-standard (for a toy) working electronic pieces. I'd say it'll be most likely around $15 alone without the electronics, add to that the USB drive's cost, and import cost and $42 doesn't sound so crazy.

Heck, THS-01 was a pretty small toy without electronic gimmicks and it was around $50, though I get it's probably bigger than Device Label Ravage.

    Erm, what?

I'm not trying to be insulting, but do you know what "articulated" means? In this case, it deals with how many joints it has or how posable it is. It has nothing to do with its alt mode.

And "<>" means "does not equal".

EDIT: I just want to reiterate that I have no wish to be rude here. It's entirely possible that I'm missing your point. But you also seem to be missing Bgrngod's and mine.
