I seem to be striking out lately, but hey, I'll try again. Didn't see this in the movie boards or the news and rumours.

Found this new video about designing SP, including footage of Bay and Nimoy recording and stuff. May be new, may not be. Feel free to lock/move/whatever.

EDIT: Can't. Stop. Watching it! It's awesome! :D

    Holy Crap that awesome.

Leonard Nimoy's Sentinel Prime is the only reason the movie became the 4th highest grossing film of all time. :D

I love the behind the scenes of movies! Man I wish I did this for a living!! Sentinel Prime is awesome! If Ironhide didn't want to die, he shouldn't have had his back to Sentinel :p

I loved his performance in it. I would have liked it if he'd had one or two Galvatron quotes in there. You know, something like "It's a pity you Autobots die so easily."

A very cool little behind-the-scenes look - I'm definitely getting the Blu-Ray 3D combo pack of DotM on Tuesday!

Great look behind the scenes.. can't wait for the DVD. A couple of days before the movie came out, Extra did a behind the scenes look on the birdmen scene.. everything that made this movie is so awesome!

A brilliant actor and a brilliant performance! :D

Hopefully, the deleted Sentinel Prime scene will be included in the bonus features this time around! :D

Yeah, barely any editing at all. :lol  He's just that awesome.

However, I'm willing to bet that even Cullen as Optimus didn't have much editing either. Most likely 95% his own natural voice. Unlike the first movie where each robot performance was basically 50% the VA and 50% editing, layers, effects, distortion, etc..

Now What We Need is the Rest of the voice cast showing recording soon. I Want to see Bender, Mr. Freeze, Plastic Man, Sazh Katzroy, Harry Morgan, Woodhouse, and even the late Francesco having one hell of a time.

Watching stuff like this always feels bitter sweet. It shows just how much effort seemed to go into the production of what was ultimatly a failure that'll be remembered in the same light as films like Waterworld and Independence Day.

It's a shame that these films ended up being such a pop cultural joke. Visually, they had so much potential.

The real shame is not being able to go to a thread about the visual effects of the movie without getting pointless "too bad the movies sucked" comments.

    Sorry, it's how I feel.

It's not like I wanted things to turn out the way that it did. Breaks my fanboy heart, honestly.

In a sense, I agree. And visually, that 'potential' that you speak of was definitely hit. Hit, and then exceeded. Visually, that is.

But I wouldn't call them a "pop culture joke". Are they great? By no means, no. Are they classics? Not even close. Are they a joke? Not that either. The best phrase I've heard (/come up with) to sum up these movies are "They're not good enough to be considered timeless classics, but they're not bad enough to be considered a stain on the history of cinema. They fall in between, in the very over-populated land of Mediocrity, Averageness."

But hey, let's enjoy the awesomeness of the creative team that brought us Sentinel F**king Prime.
