I agree. It's the most basic design for a transforming Enterprise that you could possibly do. The nacelles don't even fold up or anything they just sit there! And why couldn't they do a different head that is more representative of the Enterprise?

The one good thing that comes from this is it's making me want to do my own version.

 

I was going to do a mod on the design with a digibash.. But, I actually for the first time, didn't care enough about it to do so. Funny how that is, because the classic Enterprise is one of my Fav. Ships. I think the forearms are badly designed, the backpack should have the nacelles compress into a backpack, both the pylons and the nacelles should depress down into a backpack with little hindrance to the backside. The body is fine as it is, and the legs. I like that. The head should be reworked, I don't know why, I pictured the Enterprise with a head that looks more like a knight's helmet then Fortress Maximus. I mean, why not invent a new Transformer, instead of reworking Fortress into the Enterprise? It would have made a much better story I think with a new character, over an existing one. this feels alot like the designs we saw for the Star Wars versions. I wasn't impressed with those, and this kinda feels the same for me. too bad, the design is mostly good. I just wish the head sculpt, backpack and forearms were redesigned. anyhow.. Back to my drooling over the MP44.

I'll jump on with the critics here. Very little of this evokes Fort Max, aside from the head. It feels lazy.

If anything, use those giant thrusters hanging off the back as his hip cannons, or something that makes it feel like the character.

I saw a small thumbnail of this on FB earlier. During a quick skim, this just looks like futuristic Sideswipe (or some other hood lies flat on the chest carbot).

 

Anyone knows if a citybot would even be in a right size to turn into a Constitution-class Federation ship? TOS Enterprise is supposed to be around 290 meters long. What's "canon" size for a citybot ship mode?

 

Something would need to be done with the nacelles, otherwise the toy would fall over backwards from the weight distribution. I like the "fold down against the back when not in use" idea, and also the "fold against the hips to evoke Fort Max's hip cannons" idea. Or maybe the back halves could detach to be handheld cannons.

 

tbh there\'s probably some chance the Trek people had input here on things like \"oh no, you can\'t break up the nacelles\" in the same way car companies were weird about Alternators.

 

I don't know....I mean sure it looks neat, but wouldn't Fortress Maximus be like 10x the size of the OG Enterprise?
I mean look at the Klingon D7 next to Trypticon...

 

Citybots now a days are interpreted as big like thousands of feet big.
