Got bored when I got home from work.. So I started painting my classics starscream, whom is already sporting the Leader-1 head from the coronation kit.
For the most part the jetmode is done. The "red" tip parts are going to be gold when i'm done.

Sorry for the bad pics, just snagged them with my cell phone.

I sanded off some of the rub points already, but we'll see what happens when I finally try to transform this guy to bot mode.. May need to sand a few more areas!

Yeah, gotta break out my Coronation kit and see what can be done with him too!

Did you use the wing-adapters? Does the added range of motion allow for a reverse-transformation to really get the classic Leader-1 look going?

Paint looks REALLY nice so far!

Somehow those picture of the jet mode and imagining the robot mode is making me get on a Leader-1 kick....... Now I have another reason to get the kit!

Anyways, Looking pretty good! Can't wait to see the robot mode!

Honestly, I have no idea. I didn't pick up the full coronation kit. :)
I wasn't interested in it until I started thinking about thow the wing adapters might allow for some kind of funky reverse transformation.. I made a quick youtube video that has a pic of a backwards leader 1, I think it would be work able.. But alas no wing adapters for me, so I'm just going to a nice repaint of the standard seeker look (I thought I had figured out a way to make the intakes of the jet fold down into the chest, but I don't have enough room to work with since the arms flip in).

But regardless it should look pretty, especially with some careful paint apps!

Well I transformed him to bot mode and wasn't overly happy with what I saw.. I was just gonna paint it and be done with it.. But it looks too starscream for me.. So I took a dremel to it and made a few modifications. I think he'll have some slight parts forming (I can't figure out how to hinge the intakes). But I think it improves the botmode..

The wings I can deal with as an "updated" Leader-1

HA! Well you inspired me to break out my coronation kit and try the wing-adapters, and Yes, they do allow you to fold the wings out of the way so (with an arm swap) to allow for a very Leader-1'y bot mode.

Mind you I BROKE one of my adapters in the install, and am now in the process of fixing it (really guys, use nylon next time...), and I concur that the intakes are still and issue, though they are less so when seen from behind....

Love your mods so far :)

Great job so far. I just got my Coronation set yesterday and am planning to use a spare Ramjet to keep the "wings on the feet" look from Gobots. Considering taking the intakes and moving them to the shoulders. The real question is if it's worth the effort to make the back into the front. I'll be watching this thread with great interest...

I reckon that ROTF dirge would be a good use for it, wouldn't be difficulttojust hige the wings halfway:

As Gobots go, Dirge makes a far better Fitor than Leader-1. That shoop looks good but I doubt the parts fit.

Thanks man, though I didn't do all that many mods, just some simple things. The paint job is what's going to really make him look like an "updated" leader 1.
For anyone that's interested, If you watch my video here:
    YouTube - T2rx6's Channel

at 5:26 I have a pic of Leader-1 backwards (unpainted). So if the wing kit works the way that you say so dl, then that might be an easy mod!
Maybe I'll have to buy a second head and starscream.. hrm..

Hrm.. Now you're making me want the full kit.. Meh.. I'll have to settle for my not totally accurate Leader-1... I can deal I suppose!

I considered ram jet too, I liked that look.. BUT.. the head transforms a tad different so you'd need a second starscream too to make it work properly.

That does look pretty cool! I've never played with the dirge mold, would it be hard to paint?

Took some advice from a fellow sector70 member and now Leader-1 does not have a cockpit chest.

That looks great! Have you considered using rare earth magnets to attach the intakes to the top of the arms? I'm considering doing this now if I can find an extra Ramjet to give him the Leader-1 "wings on the legs" look...

    CRAP!
    MAGNETS!!!...
    THAT'S A GREAT IDEA!

I did not think about that.......... I would like to put them on the arms though you will lose some arm articulation.
