As usual, I used screen caps from the movie to try and get the colors as accurate as I could.

Really cool little figure here. Some serious back kibble, which is common with deluxe TFs and really transformers in general, but at least he doesn't have those terrible thin chicken legs the Human Alliance version has.

Nah man, just a good old "rattle spray can" of testors chrome with careful masking and thin even coats for car mode. the rest was done with brush paints. Mostly dry-brushed chrome and gunmetal over flat black.

    Thank you!

I nabbed on as cheap as I could on ebay the day I heard I may never find one here in the US.

Awesome I still don't know why the dotm stuff didn't have many paint apps. How I wish we got this mold in Canada he's really cool, I've been figuring out how to mod the backpack to make it smaller but I'll never know till I can get my hand on him.

I really like this! I've got one coming in the mail. What's the stock gray like? Is it as dull as DotM Sideswipe? If so I'll have to paint mine too...

I'm painting one up at the moment and I've found that the bonnet of the car can just be popped off, doing that then turning it upside down on the robot back pack makes it look better and look less like a shellformer.

yeah it's as dull as a lifetime drama movie.

I know. The hood doesn't hurt the look nearly as much as the bigger part that hangs so low, but since the hood popped off while I was posing him for pics, I left it off for the shoot. I thought about removing the other back part for the pics too, but I wanted to show how ugly it is since I knew I'd want to mention it.

Thanks man. I think tinting the windows made as much of a difference as the silver paint job. Kind of helps hide the robot parts inside, plus they were tinted in the movie.

How'd you tinted the windows? Smokepaint? Translucent black?

Any advice on using Tamiya Smoke? I've got a spray can of it, and am looking for useful advice!

If at all possible, spray the insides of the windows to keep the perfect sleek glass look on the window faces. Either way though, only do very thin coats where you can't even tell a difference each time. After about 4 coats, you will have a nice mild tint. Do more to go darker, but never spray too thick a coat at once. It took me a few tries to get it down myself.

Cool- thanks for the advice! I just got this mold as well, but havn't decided quite what I think of him; love the alt mode and the bot mode, but the transformation of the arms is fiddly as hell!
