Just finished putting some easy detail improvement on Deluxe Ratchet for my own tawys collection. All you gotta have to greatly improve many of these figures, including Deluxe Bumblebee, Jolt, Wreckers, twins, and many others, is a little jar of Tamiya gunmetal brush paint (around $4 shipped on Ebay) and a paint brush with a fairly small tip for detailing. Just by filling in areas that should be metal robot parts, using any decent screens from the movies as reference, you can break up the simple plastic look quite a bit and bring some realism to your collection. On Ratchet here, I added a few extra yellow and white details too, and of course most of the others have more in depth work done to them. One of the first things I learned when I first started painting tawys though, was how much of a difference a simple jar of gunmetal can make. Just be careful to stay in the lines and take your time, because rushing through and having a sloppy detail job can actually hurt the look more than help. The group shot shows how Ratchet and others look with movie TFs close to this particular scale with each other. Sideswipe is a bit too small and ratchet stands just a tad taller than Ironhide, but close enough. There might be a few others that would fit into this group, like the legend size ROTF twins, but these are what I've got. My daughter ate the twins.
