This was a super easy job, took me about an hour. It mostly involved me drilling and cutting away with nippers. Cleanup with files also helped out.

There's a circle that roughly shows where you need to cut out.
    IMG_20170406_234906.jpg

This was my original cutting plan, but it turns out I needed to cut out more, which you'll see in the later pictures.

Unscrew here, at the 4mm holes.
    IMG_20170406_235748.jpg

At first I thought the pieces were glued together, and I began to pry.
    IMG_20170406_235803.jpg

My dumb ass then found this last screw before I broke the piece.
    IMG_20170406_235925.jpg

First cut was already making tons of progress.
    IMG_20170406_235955.jpg

You can see I cut out a small extra area for the "heel" of the headmaster. IMG_20170407_000813.jpg IMG_20170407_001435.jpg

Red line roughly shows where I'd be cutting for the bulk of the face.
    IMG_20170407_001516.jpg IMG_20170407_001520.jpg IMG_20170407_001547.jpg

Drilled holes so it'd be easier to cut with nippers.
    IMG_20170407_003649.jpg

The mouthpiece needs a lot of clearance space, and the chubby cheeks do too. Broadside has gotten really fat from being in toy retirement for so long.
    IMG_20170407_004158.jpg IMG_20170407_004632.jpg IMG_20170407_005658.jpg IMG_20170407_010217.jpg IMG_20170407_010230.jpg IMG_20170407_010241.jpg

In his new safe space, Broadside no longer has to face the ocean or heights. IMG_20170407_010721.jpg

Thanks for checking out my work! It's a super easy mod, so you guys could totally pull it off too.

    De-Headmastering without actually de-Headmastering.
    BRILLIANT!
I just wish most of the other TR figures were that easy.
    Nicely done!

I cannot justify doing that to a figure! Yikes! Takes 5 seconds to remove Blunderbuss and put him in the cockpit.

The de-headmastering continues...glad to see more and more of these projects...looks good...if and when I get this...I'd like to to get a new head via Shapeways...so maybe a little less cutting...but...love what you did..

    Thanks!

But now it takes 1 second to flip it closed like the original :lolol

Thanks! Removing the titanmaster legs would make it easier for space, but then the head would be oddly shaped if you remove too much mass. Same goes for the face, unfortunately.

And now I want Broadside even more. I was SO hoping someone would figure out a fix for him before I found him.

I was planning on returning him since it was kind of a boring figure to be honest. The receipt just happened to fly out my open window while I was driving, so I ended up being stuck with him, and decided to put him under the knife.

Well I'm sorry to hear you're disappointed with the figure, but I also want to sincerely thank you for your contribution here.

    Hm...

I know that someone, possibly Trent Troop, sells "back of the heads" for Titanmasters that replace the robot body with just a squared-off block. Might be worth a Shapeways pickup for a project like this.

(Also, I can't do this because I keep the mini-Aerialbots in his cockpit in robot mode!)

That's an interesting accessory idea, but I don't see the point for buying something, when all I have to do is cut 2mm to fit the legs in. Also, I used to keep the aerialbots in the cockpit too, but I ended up leaving them scattered throughout the armor on boat mode. It just became a real annoyance to take the head out and have the tiny planes pop out too.

Actually, Trent's items don't replace the titan master body, they replace the faces on the titan master's backs.

LG designs made a back-of-the-head titan master replacement that fits Hot Rod, but only Hot Rod.

Trent does make back of head replacements: 5mm post version and 4mm post version. I don't know what size the TM neck is, 4mm I think? You would replace the TM body but reuse the TM neck.

They're about 5.5mm from corner to corner.

This is most likely how mine will be done, except I'll probably reverse the head/hole, if possible, so that only the back of his head will be visible in the cockpit, rather than his face. I'd still prefer at least some semblance of the illusion that the cockpit is intact while in jet mode.

Can you verify whether or not there is sufficient room for the hole to be cut, and the head go smoothly through in that manner? Also, what are the exact dimensions of the hole you created for the conversion, if you don't mind?

Smooth looking job on your cuts, by the way! Nicely done!
