16" Defensor - Action Master Style

Been working on this off and on for a few months, finally got off my ass and finished it up. Used over 20 different TFs overall for parts and a LOT of assorted other stuff. Blue LEDs in the head, yadda yadda... you all know the drill!

This was originally a commission, the guy got scared with Christmas coming up and backed out. He didn't want it to transform, he just wanted a display piece, so it is what it is.

Fully articulated down to the jbarb Unicron hand mod... this guy is SUPER-posable to make up for lack of transformation.

There are additional pics in the full gallery

    Enjoy!

Looks fantastic! Though too bad the commissioner backed out, he really doesn't know what he's missing out on with this awesome custom.

    Again, great job.

Nice! I love that you used movie bots for parts they lend a lot of detail to the figure. This is just my two cents, if you revisit this, I'd bump the chest piece up a bit ,make it more level with the shoulders and bulk up his torso a tad more.

He looks great. I really love the Action Master Combiners. I do have one question....is Defensor's gun scratch built? If not, what figure did you get it from....if you don't mind me asking?

I built that from: Cybertron prime's leg guns, his handheld gun, Cybertron Soundwave's gun, some grappling hook gun, a few legos and a pen.

    Thanks everyone!

Funny thing! I originally had the chest armor a bit higher, but it was interfering with the arm articulation, so I had to compromise a bit. Thanks for your feedback though! We are thinking along the same lines, for sure. :)

Looking very nice my friend! I also like the use of the movies figures. Any more action masters in your upcoming schedule?

Nice work! I spy some movie Barricade parts on Streetwise (the police car?) there. XD A formidable and worthy opponent for my fave combiner Bruticus, indeed.

thats phenomenal!...absolutely fantastic proportions, not too lanky, which plagues most combiner customs...

beautiful paint work too...love your weathering/wash style...what kinda paint do you use (not brand) and this brush or air brush?

Defensor was one of my faves. great job. shame the singular units do not transform.
his torso/waste is kinda slim, needs to bulked up like somebody mentioned. otherwise stellar job all round. paints are gritty and stylized/ A+, bud!

I have a list a mile long. My main thing about the combiners is that I make mine for display purposes for the most part, they're more model than toy, so I prefer to focus on the main mode which would be the combined mode. I CAN do actual combiners, but I'm not as comfortable with them, nor am I as good with them.

As far as the painting goes: I use Krylon Fusion flat and satin as a basecoat, then testors and tamaiya enamels for drybrushing. For some parts I will use Games Workshop/Citadel paints, especially the silvers and Chaos Black. Everything aside from the basecoat is hand brushed. I have an airbrush but my cat chewed up the hose :/

Thanks for all the comments, everyone.
