    Hi there,

I'm deciding upon my next purchase for a TF in my collection.
I've decided to get one of the G1 "big bots" (Metroplex, Trypticon, Devastator, Menasor, etc).
The issue is, what would you recommend? best mold? any issues with Devastator's joints (they look flimsy in pictures,...are they?)
All in the price range of <= AUD 500
    MIB

    cheers

P.S. please tell me any difference between Hasbro and Takara releases

I am not too crazy about Trytpicon- lack of Bot mode bothers me. For combiners, I am a big fan of the Technobots, and for larger stand alone bots, I always liked Scorponok.

Try Predaking, for me it is the best combiner.

Okay, the scene in the Transformers: The Movie where Rumble and Frenzy pound the ground inside Astrotrain, and Devastator falls apart? Yeah, that's pretty much what he does in real life, too. He's a great-looking, classic mold, but not the most stable.

Metroplex is great, one of my favorites.... that would be the one I'd recommend (chrome-legged, rubber-wheeled version, if you can). Scorponok is also great.

If you're counting medium-to-big bots, you can't go wrong with Shockwave or Sixshot, either.

lol, i know what you mean. Everytime I walk by mine, I'm afraid to look at him, for it might fall over.

Scorponok is one of my favorite biguns :)

Go with Predaking. To me he is the best looking of the combiners.

If your looking at combiners Predaking is an obvious favorite.

I fancy Metroplex myself over Trypticon, he's a solid toy no matter which way your splice it.

    decisions, decisions...
I think I'll go with either Metroplex or Trypticon.
I'm leaning towards Metroplex. Is there any difference between the Takara and Hasbro releases of Metroplex and Trypticon?

I think I'll get Liokaiser as my first G1 (non-reissue) combiner, but that can wait.

Might be, though I don't see one of the two scanners/radar dishes in that pile of parts on the right side of the styrofoam. Everything else seems to be there, including Full-Tilt's miniscule weapon and the pair of clips that keep the weapons on in battle station mode. It could all be there, that picture isn't the best quality for displaying all the pieces.

If it were up to me though, I'd put money on Predaking, Scorponok or Piranacon.

It's either gonna be trypticon, metroplex (trypticon more preferred now, god how fast do I change my mind?), Computron or a Victory Combiner, or even Overlord!
But I'm gonna be patient and wait until the end of the year, see what's the best buy on eBay.
