so, the current blue faced ironhide has the number 82851 on the back...

the silver one should have a different number, but how do we decipher that code? was it made 8/28? then what's the 51 for...

Silver faced Ironhide will show up in a future wave.

When it was announced that Animated Voyager Prime not having an autobot insignia was a mistake that would be fixed, did he show up right away or in a future wave he was in?

    In the future wave.

Same thing is gonna happen with Ironhide. His next wave is that of Hot Shot, wait until then to worry about it.

dude, i understand he's coming in a future wave, i was just asking if anyone knew how to decipher the code...does 82851 mean 8/28, then 51 is some other production number...cuz that's what seems to make the most sense...and its possible he could be shipping with smokescreen and dinobot, who i believe are both currently shipping...

You basically have the right idea. When it comes to Star Wars figures, the date stamps work the same way. Essentially you are looking for a number greater than the one you have if you are looking for a more recent version of that figure. That's one way we tracked down the UGH figures back in '07, by checking those dates stamps for case assortments.

SW used to be alot easier, because back in the day, they used decimals. Everything was like .00 or .01 and basically if you had a .01 it was newer than a .00. The same concept is here, only it's less obvious.

However since no one has found a silver-faced Ironhide, we don't know exactly what the number should be. We have no point of reference, unfortunately; so it's all guess-work. It's discouraging, but I almost think Hasbro has given up on the idea of making the silver-faced Ironhide. I myself haven't seen an Ironhide in stores since before the holidays.

i saw a bunch yesterday, i just wish there was a way to tell if he was silver faced from the outside of the box, other then a number no one can truly decipher...seems like a small sticker or something that points to his face would work well...

Surely your local stores are out of Ironhide by now.
Find a store that's out of those.

When they restock Hot shot Ratchet and Ironhide (Wait two of the same mold in the same case assortment? that does'nt look right)

You should get a silver one that way...Or
Look for a Peg with Hot Shot and a Ironhide.

Well, again the process of just finding an Ironhide and buying it is not the point.

The point is the OP is trying to use the data printed on the cardback itself to assess if an Ironhide is the silver-faced version or not. It's actually a very intelligent idea (one I had mentioned back when we first learned there'd be a silver-faced version).

Of course, we can all just go buy Ironhides, open them, and play guess-work; but that's just going to lead to alot of returns and Ironhides being shipped back to warehouses.

yeah yeah...i still kinda want henkei...i do like his red being darker...

and yeah, i'm hoping that they don't get sent back the the warehouse. i just pulled open the bottom of the package slightly, saw his face, then went "DAMN, he's blue" so hopefully i can return him and they can resell him...or i can return him and they have legends...

I'd say the 82 is the mold number, and the following numbers are either run numbers, factory identification or time stamp.

I should have just posted this in my first post, but, oh well.

How to read a date stamp:

The OP listed the date stamp 82851, which translates to:

The "8" is in relation to the year - 2008

The "285" section is related to the day of the year - the 285th day of 2008

The "1" is usually the location it was made and is irrelevant to the OP's search (and most other searches consumers/hunters would make).

So, OP, you are looking for a date higher than the "285" in 2008. Alternatively, they may be making the new Ironhides in 2009, so then you're looking for a number starting with "9". There's a slight chance that Ironhide would have been made in Jan of '09 and is shipping now.

Though I've also heard that the final digit could be manufacturing shift.
