So I have been picking up some G1 toys here and there, and I am looking at a whole bunch more. I refuse to try to collect all then G1s for the time being. But this is what I currently have my eye on:

    - Metroplex
    - Trypticon
    - Skylynx
    - Megatron

    So just some questions:
    - what should I get first?
    - Reissue or original?
    - Any rumor on Trypticon encore?
    - Whats a reasonable price on these guys when in excellent condition?

I'd go for reissues on everything or you'll spend a fortune.

My trypticon is actually a junker I'm fixing up.

Skylinx and Metroplex will probably be the easiest and cheapest to find considering they were reissued not all that long ago.

About rumours. Speaking for myself. I've decided to wait and see what happens with Encore. My understanding is that TT is going to behind that line again as they are doing with the MP line.

Is there a site that covers how to clean G1 toys, tighten their joints, etc? I have some G1 Dinobots that need cleaning. The screws look old and stuff like that. I would like to turn it into a little project.

Just bought them, and their chrome is excellent. They are not going anywhere. They just need some good cleaning and joint tightening. Plus they are 100% complete.

Congrats. I remember getting my Dinos. Got them for less than 30 each and mostly complete. They are not the greatest but I love subgroups and they are the best.

If you figure out how to tighten Sludge let me know.

If you're looking for a G1 SkyLynx, BBTS has the reissues for $50 until monday. A pretty good price for that.

Thanks, I did pretty well on them. Vanguard hooked me up. He is an excellent seller.

Btw, great minds think alike, I also love sub groups and the Autobots don't nearly have enough sub groups for me.

Can I land a full Trypticon for $100, or is that unreasonable?

You need an Omega Supreme to go with those bots! If you don't have one, get one! :)

That is what started it for me. Saw it at the NJCC, fell in love with it, and got one a couple of weeks later at a great price. Then it was all down hill from there.

Got the dinobots a couple of weeks ago. However, my first purchase on here was mint G1 Devastator. Bad boy is boxed in a ko box as I could not add the crazy devy parts to him without feeling guilty.

    Ebay:
I managed to get a complete G1 Metroplex for twenty pounds ( thirty US dollars) from eBay a few months ago, so it's by no means impossible. Metroplex is great fun.

Landing a complete, fully working, Trypticon for $100 is no mean feat.

The upside is that reprolables are available, and Chrometech USA do great work.

    ...and on Encoring Trypticon:

    1) We know the tooling for Trypticon was at least mostly in tact as recently as Beast Wars 2

    2) Takara tooled new parts for Encore Devastator...if there are parts for Trypticon missing, they may not be against tooling new molding.

    3) They've already shown a willingness to reissue both motorised TFs and bases.

Really, i think Encore is slowly but surely kicking but into gear...and with the movie franchise on hold for a while...it seems like a distinct possibility
whenever left to their own devices, w/o a massive Hasbro

If you pick up Encore Ironhide and Ratchet, I would recommend picking up the ko clip on heads with them. I grew up with Ratchet and the heads (easily located and reasonably priced on ebay) really make a difference. Ironhide is now one of favourite G1 toys. Not very articulate but I still love him.

    Other recommendations:

    Scorponok
    Squeezeplay
    Prowl
    Sideswipe
    Smokescreen
    Soundwave
    Ultra Magnus
    Scourge

Most people don't like them but I'm fond of Megatron and the Seekers.
