This is probably a redundant question, but is there any significance to the reason as to why the Decepticons "Optics" [Eyes] are red, aside from "they're the bad guys"....? Stretching things here, maybe it means their Sparks are corrupt.

    Your Opinions?

Pretty much yeah. Red eyes are evil looking, while blue eyes are heroic looking. No deeper meaning than that.

They're probably damned angry so the eyes go red.

it could be that they are corrupted sparks, being the sparks glow a blueish color naturally, maybe theirs are red? who knows, it more than likely wasnt more than a color to illustrate them being evil

I'm guessing it might also go back to the original cartoon, where early on, every Autobot had blue eyes and every Decepticon had red. I think it was about when Tracks or Cosmos turned up that the characters started to have different coloured eyes.

if hot rod is in the sequel as he was portrayed by that treatment, he should have green or yellow eyes, to make him all the more ambiguous

Wasn't there one Decepticon with blue eyes in the G1 series?

Corrupt sparks? I like the sound of that. Give the Dinobots orange eyes then.

I don't think the Decepticons are evil, It's a matter of opinion, most "Decepticon" attitudes actually reflect Humans, the Autobots believe in universal preservation and the Decepticons believe in self-preservation and conquest, The fact they are called "evil" annoys me because its a matter of opinion (as i said earlier)
But in the movie they have red eyes because they are "evil"

It could be as a form of reconigzing each other, just as gang signs or some of the tatoos they wear.

I don't consider conquest and a focus on self-preservation to the detriment of anyone else anything BUT evil. Its too much like manifest destiny to me, and I consider that to have been evil as well. Such attitudes can be used to justify virtually any atrocity.

Frankly, I get annoyed when people try to excuse the actions of the Decepticons as a whole rather than simply owning up to what they are and how they are depicted, particularly in the G1 AS, and the live-action movie. If you like the villains better, fine. Its fiction. There's no harm. But don't try to make them something they really aren't.

And yes, red eyes = evil.
