Well, there's the Smithsonian Institute, the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Memorial...great stuff for the tourists.  

Not trying to make it a political discussion, but there's that thing about "what would happen if the government shuts down" going around. Well, what if that's what the Decepticons had in mind?

That, or protesting against war by blowing stuff up.

Ok this is a theory i have had a while. Spoilers








Sam is fresh out of college, but is having trouble with the job market. He starts dating Carlee as she works for a division that is pro autobot, as there is a division amongst world leaders that are divided on the transformers to leave the planet. Her department then hosts a public awareness race where some autobots race against human cars. The cars are all supplied by Dylan and his multimillion dollar company that funds the pro autobots movement. Then the decepticons make an assassination of a government official(s) and the autobots get on the offensive. Also secret plans are stolen by the decepticons the location of sentinel prime. I could keep going but thats why i think they are in DC.

I think it is the whole thing where they say at the beginning something really bad happens and it is made to look like the autobots did it and that's what makes the humans hate them. While filming in DC there were a lot of explosions (no surprise there) and Sam and Lennox staring shocked as if they couldn't believe what was going on.

Also, we aren't 100% sure that Chicago is Chicago in the movie, there was something about a Chicago transit bus being changed to make it look like it was from someone place other than CHicago. So all the filming in Chicago and DC could technically be the same place perhaps.

My two theories.

Maybe the autobots make a mistake and accidentally kill humans, OR they were supposed to escort/protect some person from the government but they failed, and upset everyone.

 

He said it on local news there. His lying is meant for the fan community like us vultures. If he lies to the general population it'll give people the wrong ideas.

Bays not an idiot people, no matter how much some of you think.

 

it might be a decepticon attack, maybe the cons are all disgusied as human vehicles, so they can cause more destruction, maybe thats why Ratchet got painted a different scheme

 

Something tells me that Sideswipe and Mirage are gonna be main characters. They were seen with Bumblebee in another filming video, as well as in a picture with him somewhere else. All I can say is, "HELL YEAH!".
