Was it really necessary for the Decepticons to just drool in Dark of the Moon? That weird little Igor that looked like a Sharkticon he drooled, then there's Laserbeak and then Barricade's Dreadlock gang

You forgot Starscream even though it was more like spitting.

    Starscream spat.
    Hatchet drooled.
Crankcase and Crowbar had "transformer blood" dripping from their mouths.
    Barricade did not drool.
And Igor was screwed up, but he was pretty cool. Would've loved to have seen Igor become the main villain in the end.

Was it really necessary for Transformers to have blood?

Just because they are mechanical beings, why can't they have a few leaks?

It's oil, it sometimes has a red-ish tinge.

I don't have any problems with it. The Movie Decepticons were more animalistic than thier original selves anyway, so it seems in a way fitting.

And then they were KILLED. It's almost like if they bleed, then they can be killed. ;)  Okay, that was lame.

As for the OP's original question, was it necessary? Not to the overall story, no. But it was a little detail that was really cool and helped add a little something to these "robotic organisms".

Igor was drool because he is ''special."
    Wait.....Laserbeak was drooling?
    Barricade was not drooling.
Hatchet was drooling...but can you get mad at him....he's a dog man.
Crowbar and Crankcase had Robot blood...because...it must of been painful to be rammed by a truck..then land on concrete...just sayin'.
    Starscream.....is just dumb.

    That is all.:)

For the last time, Barricade has nothing to do with the Dreads. He is never seen with them and they have nothing in common other than that they're of the few non-generic/drone Cons.

"Drooling" is a symbol of low-class. In Laserbeak's case it's because he's re-engineered Cybertron wildlife. For the dreads, they never drooled, they "bled" hydraulic/transmission fluid from their mouths after the crash. For Igor it is because he was an all around abomination of science. Starscream spits often, usually when he gets angry or excited, because again, he's low-class. Megatron never spits, even when injured or dying. Neither does Soundwave.

Barricade had nothing to do with the Dreads, and he never drooled.

Crowbar bled oil from his mouth, not drool. The same thing happens to Megatron at the beginning of the forest fight in the second film.

Igor was an abomination of science, as mentioned. Meant to look like this little, animalistic creature, like a rabid-dog maybe.

Laserbeak was a Cybertronian Animal of sorts, and animals drool all the time. Adds to likeness of something familiar to humans.

Ah, but he's completely expendable in the eyes of Megatron, unlike Soundwave or Shockwave, who are of use to him. And plus he is sort of "scum" with how he feels the need to suck up to Megatron all the time.

Megatron coughed up "blood" while calling for Starscream after Optimus kicked his ass in ROTF.

I never noticed Lazerbeak drooling/spitting, I'll have to re-watch it again.

Maybe Starscream was just spitting on Sam for the hell of it!? XD

Or one of the Cons who died in the first movie was the Decepticon's Dentist, after his death their dental hygiene just went downhill from then.:lol

To answer the when Lazerbeak did it question-When Lazerbeak made that noise before saying 'Suicide you' he had saliva in his beak.

Dreads were bleeding Energon, Starscream spat oil because, well, who knows, and Igor drooled 'cuz he's a messed up severed head of a Long Haul-type 'Con.
