Riddle me this, riddle me that...

So I purchased an Energon Ravage and Energon Divebomb to repaint them into the Decepticon clones Pounce and Wingspan. Great molds in my opinion for these characters. And as I have them in the prep stages I wanted to get a little feedback before I start painting them...

Should I paint them according to their cartoon appearance, or according to their toy appearance. In the The Five Faces of Darkness they seem to be more off-white and green with yellowish-orange faces with dark purple highlights and accents. In their toy appearance, well, there's a lot of blue, purple, and I guess that color would be a shade of pink. Shades aren't really all that important to me since they can always be adjusted, but I just want to get an idea of what would be more popular; cartoon or toy...

I tend to prefer the toy colors myself, I like the brighter teal to the more muddy green of the cartoon colors^^

I too am a fiend for teal so I have to vote for the toy color scheme. You plan on doing new heads?

I might... I still pretty new to kitbashing, got a couple half-finished repaints from where I've just experimented. But if I can find some new heads that fit the molds and don't require me to do a lot of modding I'll consider it... Just sticking with the basics for now until I get more accustomed to doing them... not to mention the closest I've seen for a suitable head might be Energon Stormcloud/Blackout, but any of the Energon/Universe 2.0/RotF combiners are hard to find without spending an arm and a leg on... I know, I'm STILL trying to track down a Bruticus set...

Other repaints I'm working on, if anyone's interested are:

Autobot Blades... repainting him to be more G1-ish
Decepticon Ravage/Tripredacus Agent from Universe 2.0 Cheetor
Superion with FansProject add-on kit... again, repainting to be more G1-ish
Decepticon Red Tide... my special project
G2 Cyberjet Air Raid... the mold never screamed Blaster OR Soundwave for that matter so I found a better use for it...
Yoruryu, Blackout, and Barricade... inspired by WhiteMocha's digibashes
Salvage and Stratosphere... Movie-verse crossovers using Energon Landmine and Cybertron Jetfire (a lot better than the skinny chicken thing we got for RotF, but that's just my opinion)

Personally I would go for cartoon colors. The animater versions look so much better.

Doesn't sound like they are gonna be clones anymore. While the alt modes of the choices you made fit, the robot modes look NOTHING alike.

This I am aware of, but the good thing about customizing that I've learned is that it depends entirely of your own creative perspective. And while the robots modes may not match, the reason I chose these molds wasn't entirely based upon the alt modes, but rather than these characters were both Terrorcons in Energon, they're clones in the sense that they come from the same batch of drones so to speak...

If there's someone out there who is good with casting heads and has a mold, or I could get my hands on one, I'd definitely be up for working out some type of commission or collaboration. I think if they had similar head sculpts that would help give them both a little bit of semblance. So yes, I'm open to the idea if anyone is interested in it as well...

BTW, this thread needs to be here in Creative GD, since it's a concept thread. Definitely post a customs thread when you have some work to show!
