Well, this was a thread I saw once on 4chan's /m/ , thought there were some good responses, so I'll ask hit here. So, what if in the very first episode of Super Dimension Fortress: Macross, (or the first episode of Robotech for the un enlightened otaku) , instead of Zentradei coming to attack, it was the decepticons. How different do you think it would be, since the SDF-1 was a transformable fortress anyways?

I think on the Macross side, there wouldn't be much of a difference. On the Transformers side, fans would be exposed to more realistic elements such as human deaths and tragedy as well as the complications of the relationships between the characters.

That's comparing Macross to G1 that is.

Would be pretty sweet. But some Decepticons will die, and fans will cry.

    Sounds great let's do it.

The Transformers probably would kick the humans butts......that or they'd both destroy each other....and it'd be fun to watch.

I highly doubt that given the fact that the humans have access to great technology in the VF fighters and Destroids. Above all else, we humans have proven time and time again that we are hard to exterminate.

We're like cockroaches of the universe. Also great with dividing & conquering.

I see CDR Fokker and Skull Squadron, along with the other Veritech squadrons, having a field day against only three - or heck, why not - six Seekers. Destroids would aid the ground forces, and don't forget there were two carriers sitting off of Macross Island that could have lent a hand. Unless the Decepticons had an invasion force of land and air Eradicons that rivaled what Breetai brought to the fight, RDF wins hands down.

People would stop crying bloody murder for Michael Bay to focus more on the humans :D  I liked Macross for the human/alien drama, it was a space soap opera with giant robots. Transformers, while sentient, kind of removed the human element for me, so had they met up in the scenario that you have proposed, it would be small band of TFs would turn and help the earth people and SDF-1 much like the Zentradi did, led by Optimus Prime, the Valks would fight along side the TFs.

Yeah as a kid I much preferred to watch Macross (aka Robotech) as opposed to G1. There actually was a continuous story behind Macross. I actually felt somewhat more intelligent watching Macross. :lol

The power of cutsey pop singers is useless against Megatron. Pretty much makes him fly into a berserker rage.

Actually if it were TFs attacking instead of the Zentraedi, there wouldn't be a need for Minmei. That'd actually be win-win for everybody.

They would've never met. Not that Max needed her anyways as far as combat goes. It'd just be Jordan without Pippen.

Well, I think it would end badly. The only reason the humans "won" at the end of Macross at all was due to the biological links between humans and Zentraedi, and the way that it allowed them to use "protoculture" ("cooties" in common parlance) to undermine the resolve of the entire Zentraedi command structure.

Starscream: What... what are those two humans doing?
Thundercracker: I think it's called... kissing?
Starscream: Oh, how touching. Okay, lets blast them all.

    Thread won! :)

Yeah, but I was thinking about the whole Comillia (or Dana to those who only know Robotech) thing. That was somewhat important to the series.

Well if they never met maybe the disaster (in my mind) that was Macross 7 wouldn't have existed. :lol

I think there is a chance Hikaru would have been killed in the 1st episode, but then Focker would have killed the Seekers. It would be interesting to see though...literally variable fighter vs variable fighter.

Thing is, if we're to take Zero lore into account, the humans would've known how to fight variable fighters already.

Wow. No Minmei, Hikaru gets killed off, and we get real storytelling that gives us meaningful Transformers? As mentioned, win-win.

I'd be all for several TF deaths if we got that kind of payoff.
