Found a piece of garbage sticking out of the ground while out hiking with my family yesterday. Grabbed it, brushed off some of the mud and other foresty crap it was covered in, and noticed it kinda looked like the top of a decepticon symbol. I have no idea what it actually is, but my best guess would be maybe part of a bike or bike helmet.

I took it home, washed it thoroughly with hot water and soap, wrestled some rusty screws out of it, cut off and sanded some plastic tabs, trimmed a couple of things down, painted it metallic purple, attached two elastic bands to the sides with velcro tabs on them, added a decepticon emblem in the middle, and now it is a tiara for my two youngest girls.

Only problem is there is only one so whoever gets to wear it makes the other one mad, but hey, lesson to be learned there amirite? Life isn't fair.

Youngest one, Talia, was having too much fun posing for the camera...

I would say that was definitely the visor off of a bike helmet once upon a time, but knowing that just makes me want to wreck a few bike helmets in favour of a Tarn cosplay. It just works so well! Excellent stuff dude!

Are you ok for your kids to be pictured, online, which is publicly viewable? If you wish, you could always obscure their faces?

You should make a 'face' part. It would be a killer Tarn cosplay.

Apparently I am okay with it considering I did it, and they are okay with it too. Why the heck would I obscure their faces? Nobody is hunting us. We aren't in witness protection.

I definitely thought about that as I as making this, but decided I didn't want to take it that far. That'd be a LOT more work, and I really just grabbed the thing thinking I could make a silly tiara for the girls. I do tend to let little ideas and projects go WAY further than fist intended sometimes but right now I have such a pile of commissions on the table I can't go nuts on something like that yet.

You might be new to the internet, and/or not aware that there are free photo editing apps available for smartphones, etc. As for my concerns, there are people who might take your pics and use them for commercial uses (or even worse), without compensating you.

Ah, so silly paranoid fears I don't have.

I do art for a living. I could be stressing my balls off about so many things I have posted for the last decade being used without my permission, without me being compensated for it, or outright plagiarism. I have been alerted to those things happening in the past too, because whaddaya-know, I'm not new to the internet.
Just walking outside to check the mail a lot of bad things can possibly happen. I wouldn't put my children in any kind of real danger but I'm not worrying about every little possibility out there. That's no way to live.
