Why are you taking the Discovery Channel and BBC's HD documentary entitled "Planet Earth" and releasing it in theaters as "Earth"?

Wait, aren't the titles the other way around?

The answer.....because it has polar bears in it. Polar bears are cute and Disney is all about the cute.

Your going to see that footage in various shows and movies for years to come. BBC/Discovery sell that stuff like rights managed stock footage so they can recoup the costs. Earth has footage that was cut from Planet Earth as well.

Disney didn't just change the title. They removed Patrick Stewart's narration and replaced him with James Earl Jones for the US release.

I've already seen Planet Earth, and I have it on DVD, so I have no reason to watch clips of it under the Disney banner. Seriously, I don't understand Disney's motives behind this. Do they think they'll get kids to watch it just because it has 'DISNEY' associated with it?

This sums up my opinion. At least Pixar is still trying and producing new movies. The commercial for their new one 'Up' actually got a laugh out of me.

Isn't this what John Lasseter was griping about a while back? No originality, just crap sequels or useless projects?

They need to keep up the "new Disney DVD every week" thing they have going on. If that means grabbing up whatever they can, they'll do it in a heartbeat!

David Attenborough narrated Planet Earth or are we talking about something else?

Movies like Finding Nemo, Toy Story, Wall-E, and Up are all made by Pixar...
    NOT. DISNEY.

    Dear Disney

Stop whoring yourselves out to everything you can see and please be awesome again.

Believe it or not, but the investors are crapping their pants in fear at Up. Why? Because an old man going on adventures is not marketable enough and they expect the merchandise to fail.

Makes you wonder how many good concepts are left on the table or downright butchered by Disney...

I kinda laugh at the idea of them resuing the footage aired on TV and putting it in theaters to dupe idiots into going an paying 8 bucks a seat when they could buy the DVD set for $40 or so and watch it many times over.

(I thought all these "Dear Something" threads were frowned upon.)

That's why my dad has the Blu-Ray DVD set. Disney sucks sometimes. The National Treasure series was pretty good, but this is just cheap.
