I'm considering repainting a bunch of Animated Activators Starscreams to resemble the clones - i've only heard of TC coming out, and if they end up not doing the rest, i'd like to take a shot at doing one of my own. I picked one up today, and aside from his torso, he's easy to explode - but what about the springy parts? The last time i tried taking apart something that had springs, i pretty much ruined or lost the springs/parts.

Any tips on properly taking those apart and how to put them back together?

Or if i'd even need to? i noticed there were no special colors in there on the original.

EDIT: I think I may be able to avoid taking it apart, if i just mask the gears when painting the part, they seem to be the only parts that are truly always nudging each other.
