Well fuck, guys. That demo was a ton of mixed emotions. The opening, with the open snow environment, being blinded, the caves, all excellent. The QuickTime event didn't bother me. The second half was a load of meh though. Shooting at soldiers? Weird alien type things possessing a body? I thought I could get past that, but it's just so Resident Evil 5, to a degree. I'm still buying this Day 1, but my excitement has seriously dwindled.
I liked the snow environment. It reminded me of The Thing set in the future. The rest I'm hoping will be better when I play the full game.
I can't wait! Feb. 5th cannot get here fast enough, I love the Co-op and I look forward to beating the shit out of necroforms with my buddy
Those soldiers are Earthgov unitologists who are after you, which makes sense given what has happened in the first two games. As for the possessing enemy, it was actually in the first game, we've just never seen them actually reanimate a corpse until now (aside from Isaac, if he gets killed by one of them).
I realize all of that. It still doesn't fit with the other games. I can handle reanimating corpses, but having them shoot at me? Yeah, no. And the soldier thing just seems generic and so not Dead Space.
I still have hopes for Dead Space 3, though that mainly has to do with how much I enjoyed the first two games. The things I have heard and seen(Co-Op, cover mechanics, solider battles) do give me pause, but I'm still fairly optimistic.
Did anyone catch the new trailer last night? Fantastic. The game jumped back up to a day one purchase. Well, Dead 1 and 2 could also let you buy better armour and weapons within the game for the campaign.
I don't remember this? But, it's been a while since my last session. I'm actually starting DS1 again tonight so I'll have a look. I don't approve of it either way, but as long as it doesn't detrimentally affect the game for those smart enough/good enough to not buy the stuff, I'm (fairly) happy. Where's the new trailer at? Or what's it called? I'll have a look on youtube.
