Well, considering she owns the property now, would she not also be in posession of everything within said property?

I would think any "finders keepers" law would only apply to a public space, or at most a non- private residence.

right, thats what I was thinkin'....

Like "hey, its MY house, I INVITED you to come work on it."

almost like the contractor is taking the persons property who owns the house in a way....

That contractor is full of shit, he shouldn't even be entitled to a finder's fee.

If he was smart he would have kept his mouth shut about finding it.

Now please excuse me while I go rip the walls out of my depression-era apartment.

To hell with that contractor. If it's in my house, it's mine. Does he rummage through jewelry boxes as well?

Good point. However, given the fact that it wouldn't have been found without the contractor, I would throw him a bone.

    But not half.

What is the A, B, C supposed to be? :peoples:

I'd say the homeowner is entitled to the money, after all, it is HER house.

It's like if I find a $100 on the floor in my friends kitchen, it isn't mine just because I found it there, it is in my friends house!

Americans, you go to court over the strangest things sometimes :lol

This is more of a reason to go to court than stupid dry cleaners satisfaction policies, but I hear ya.
