Dead or Alive 5 Announcement Trailer.

I have always loved this series.
I love the interaction with the environments which no other fighter has yet to implement.

If Tecmo goes the way of Capcom's stupid 'Costume Packs' then I can see myself spend $300 on this game.

i liked doa4, has the best online system of any fighter i've ever played.

as it was the first online fighter i ever owned i played so much of it... i miss baiting out low counters and getting a reverse crouch grab for 60% damages

Yeah, crouching counters and throws took off insane amounts of damage.

great, i love the dead or alive series, its the reason why i got an xbox.

 

Here's a trailer for a new character named 'Rig'.
Yes, his name is Rig.  

It also shows Christie, Bayman, and Bass in alternate outfits.
If this game has as many outfits as previous DOA entries and Tecmo decides to do the Capcom-BS thing of charging for each one, then I can see the total price of DOA5 being well over $300.

I'm digging the English voices, but Bayman's voice sounds off in many regards.

 

DOA was always the fighter I preferred to watch other people play, simple because the combat system baffled me; comes from being a Tekken and Street Fighter boy I guess.

As soon as this hits sale price, however......

I sure hope they get more costumes, the last several games have been lacking.

I think DOA4 was a little lacking in attire for some of the characters, but DOA2 Ultimate had quite a few.
Tecmo even shipped a disk with extra costumes for DOA3.

You know, those things that Capcom likes to include on the disk, but then charge you extra money to 'download' them? They put that on physical media and sent it out to fans of the game.

 

I don't remember if it were the same costumes, but you were able to unlock more DOA3 costumes through DOA2U.

As for DOA5 which is a little over 2 weeks away, I'm extremely disappointed in the current fighter list. I read they were gonna keep a few characters secret till people start unlocking them. I just hope they're not characters we've already seen. I want some new fighters and I don't care about any new VF characters. Besides the two current VF characters, all we got was one new guy, right?

There's not as many costumes as I would have liked, but they're actually unlocked by playing the game.
I was afraid Tecmo was going to go the Capcom route of turning their fighters into a marketplace rather than a game.

I don't know if I'm going to pick this up tomorrow, but I am picking it up.

 

Well the past DOA games pretty much always had you repeatedly beat Arcade/Survival/Time Attack mode to unlock a costume. From what I've read, its done a bit differently now. Instead of beating Arcade mode X amount of times on the easiest difficulty, you're required to raise the difficulty for a new costume.

Been jumping between regular and CE. I just can't decide. Also thinking about selling that Bunny Swimsuit DLC on eBay for $25-30, so that right there should pay off the upgrade from reg to CE.

 

So I picked the CE up this morning and sold everything (plus Bunny costumes), but the game and CE swimsuits for $70. I probably could have gotten at least $10 more off it. Anyways, after fees and shipping, I got the game for $25.

 

I'm up for matches in this. I'm pretty bad at DoA but it seems fun so far.

Not the biggest fan of this series, but it's oddly simplistic and fun enough to keep me playing for long periods of time. IMO, it probably has the best learning curve while still separating skilled from non skilled players of any fighter out there.

Crazy that this is out already. I haven't even really started with Tekken Tag 2, and am slacking on Persona 4, so I might wait a bit to pick it up.
