Found this old drawing from first semester of illustration class, probably around 1995. The assignment was to incorporate a cartoon character into a famous painting or drawing. I used Dead End in the famous drawing "Melancholia" by Albrecht Durer. I thought it fit his personality perfectly.
Its charcoal on vellum, abou 12" by 15".
    Thanks,
    J

    Thanks guys!
Most of my assignment work is acrylic paint, but its nice just to sit back and do a drawing sometimes. Of course theres no check in the mail for it, but it can keep you sharp.

thanks. the best part about the vellum is how aged and moldy it gets after awhile. makes the drawing look 150 years old instead of 15

Like the use of materials w/charcoal, it makes me think of the very organic look of Incredible Changebots

I think the aged vellum actually helps bring a feeling a neglect and sadness to the piece....
The amount of line work, cross-hatching and the time it must have taken you..well, we're just glad you kept it and shared it with us!! :thumb
Be sure to save that one electronically--would be sad to lose this one!!

thanks guys. I ususally do a study like this before a painting, but never got a chance to paint this. Sometimes a drawing says more.
moreprime- I think the more mold on it, the better. ill just keep letting it age. I have another one like this somewhere of Optimus, if I find Ill post it.
