Well, I'm on a huge DC kick now, specifically Batman and associated characters. So I thought I'd follow up my Joker figure with my second favorite Batman villain, The Scarecrow. I should say that he's my second favorite in theory, because in practice, he's always pretty lame. I think that writers just can't really figure out what to do with him. Especially Jeph Loeb. Having him show up and spout nursery rhymes every once in awhile isn't really effective use of the character and his unique abilities if you ask me. Well, anyways, onto the figure.

He's mostly an old spiderman figure, picked for his lankiness. His hat and hands are directly from the DC Direct Hush Scarecrow figure, as was his head in a way. I tore the mask off of the head, which left a largely featureless face with just some creepy eyes and teeth. I sculpted a new mask onto him, and used dental floss for the threads holding the mouth pieces together. Then it was just a matter of sculpting over the whole body to make him look like Scarecrow. This is the first time I've attempted sculpting something covered in fabric, and all the difficultly that that entails, so I'm really proud of this one. Especially the ropes around his waist and leg, they came out alot better than I thought they would.

    Enjoy

Hey thanks everyone, I really appreciate it. I always consider it an achievement when I can post here, an almost exclusively transformers custom board, and get some responses.

For those who asked what sculpt I use, its Aves Fixit Sculpt. Its a 2 part, self hardening brand, and its, in my opinion, the best you can get. It holds details really well, gives you about a 3-4 hour working time (depending on the "climate" in your house), and will stay pretty rigid while sculpting for things like spikes and other things that need to be pointing out. I use the grey kind, as I've heard people say the other colors sometimes have a different consistency, kind of chalky. It seems kind of expensive at first, but the 1 pound thing of it has lasted me almost the whole year.

Another cool thing about it is that if you mix equal parts of the B compound with the yellow part of a sculpt like kneadite or games workshop green stuff, you can make a sculpt (inventively) called "B-yellow", that is really flexible once cured, but will still hold detail really well.

Hot damn, that is beautiful, and not at the same time! Always thought the menacing look for Scarecrow was the best. Another fantastic job!!

This is really nice work :thumb

I really like the Scarecrow in both of the Nolan Batman films. I also like this more monstrous approach to him, too. :)
