I don't care for the new logo. It looks like a logo from some indy publisher. The current logo is rather nice and visually appealing. The old logo was classic but also just that, old. I know its just a logo but if they wanted to change the branding design, they should have rolled it out with the new 52.
If I'd just seen the new logo without reading the explanation, I definitely wouldn't have gotten "D peeling back to reveal a C" from that, but I guess I can see what they were going for. Needless to say, I'm not fond of the aesthetic of this. However, it does look like the type of logo I'd expect to see for an app or something on my iPod, which may be the point with DC's recent push towards digital.
The peeling thing definitely doesn't work for me. It doesn't give a very dynamic feel, especially since they're now going for being a media entity. From the logo now, I'd imagine they were a sticker company.
It's....interesting, and I guess I could get used to it....eventually...maybe. I have to agree with Wreckgar. If they were going to introduce a new logo, they should have done so with the new 52. As-is, I hope this is something used for certain things, but not as t heir main logo (especially for comics). If it wasn't for the description, I also wouldn't have gotten the D into C thing.
I hope this won't be the new logo, but I always suspected they might drop the 'comics' part of their logo. It took up more space than the DC logo itself.
Uh DC hasn't used the word Comics in their logo for years already.
Ever since the new 52 started, "comics" has been appearing in the corner as part of the logo. Which is redundant, since doesn't the 'C' in 'DC' stand for "comics?"
Yes it does, which is why it comes out a bit silly havent noticed it, always had in mind they just used the DC and star logo, even when they were using the bullet, they've largely used the logo without the word comics.
A lame retrograde step.
Indeed, Detective Comics Comics ftw!
Wow that's a terrible logo.
Reminds me of that "new" Gap logo before it was taken down.
As a graphic designer, I can quite honestly say that's a terrible logo design for a comic book/movie/game/whatever company.
That logo is boring as hell.
I hate it. Nothing wrong with the current logo.
Is there really anything wrong with the current logo ... ?
Surprised its not a tombstone
I like the Old Logo, But i have Mixed feelings about this.
