That's a surprise. The trailer looked very promising. Oh well.

Well, looks like I'll be skipping that one. (even though I like Tom Hanks)

Huh, I would have expected it to be at least half decent, but if its really as bad as they say I'll probably skip it, or at least wait and rent the DVD.

To bad, I actually kinda wanted to see this flick too, more out of curiosity then anything due to the hype around the book but its not worth a $12 ticket to see a bad movie.

I am definately not going to see this movie. It tries to pass off made up crap as historical fact. And for those of you who say that it is just fiction? Dan Brown said on Good Morning America that if he were to write a non-fiction book about the same topic, he would make the same claims.

The fact is that it is fiction, and if he would try to pass it off as non-fiction he and the story would be torn apart. I see the interview response as nothing more than feeding the fire of controversy in an attempt to increase the box office gross, and increase sales of the book. Nothing more.

So it's about as exciting as the book? Aha. I really do not know what people were expecting. Dan Brown's a terrible author and I expect nothing less from a movie based on his works.

And no, my opinion isn't in regard to his topics. He really does write the same book over, and over, and over, and over again. tDC is even worse because at the end..

...It's so obvious that this one character is the bad guy, and you're wondering how he's going to pull a switch reveal that Mr. X isn't really the bad guy, but some other person is.. and he doesn't. The bad guy in the book is literally the last man left alive who it COULD be.

Also, the guy in his computer novel (I forget which one it is now.. Hidden Fortress?) does stuff that isn't even plausible.

Some books just don't translate well into movies. I'm guessing this was one of those books. I've never read the book, but from what I've been told of it, and I'm not really surprised that it didn't transition well to the big screen.

I thought it sounded kinda boring when I first heard about it, so I guess i'm not surprised by the reviews. Someone described the story to me when the book first came out, and it just didn't sound like something I'd be interested in (at least not enough to read it), and I already wasn't planning on seeing the movie. In my case, I guess the bad reviews don't really make any difference.

I was just saying almost the exact same thing to a friend today. Overall a consistently good director, but not a great one.

As for the book, I felt it was "meh".

A gold star for you sir.

I read a review, more like a commentary on the overall book/movie phenomenon, that said with some level of cliched seriousness that "40 million people can't be wrong."

    I beg to differ.

Guys, don't hate on Ron, he gave us Willow!

But in all fairness, this movie was dead to me the moment Tom Hanks was cast in it.

Why can't he make stuff like Big again? :cry

Cocoon was another good film by Howard.
And I have to agree about Hanks.

Oh well, I guess I'll pass.

Hollywood ruins yet another franchise possibility.

Actually, a lot of the local churches in my area are doing just that. I can see why the movie wouldn't be great, most of the book is really just talking and number puzzles. Its an ok read if you like math, puzzles, and word games, but in terms of historical facts the only thing he gets right is the names.

Correct me if I've heard wrong, but isn't there already something in the works?

I loved both this book and angels and demons, and I think because of that, and the reviews, I'd prefer not to tarnish that memory, and will instead be spending my moviegoing time watching "over the hedge"

I just got back from the staff viewing and man this really is a mediocore movie. I've never read the book so I don't know how great of an adaption it is, but man it is just way to predictable.
