I bought a cap gun from a toy store that doesnt do refunds, and the cap gun was a POS. they do exchanges, bit only within 7 days, so i can't wait around for good stuff to show up, and of the stuff they have there, those two are the only ones im really interested in. Problem is, I stopped collecting movie stuff, for the most part, thus why I'm only gonna get one. Question I have for you guys is, which one is better/less hate-able? for the record, i don't have the Sideswipe mold, nor the Mech Tech that comes with it, as i skipped Screamer too.

So ya-which one?

 

Dark Steel imo

 

Well I don't have Air Raid but I really like Dark Steel. I guess it really is a matter of personal preference. So I would go Dark Steel. I hear he is more rare than Air Raid anyway.

 

I'll say Dark Steel.

 

I wish I could even FIND them. I'd go w/ Air raid b/c its a completely new mold, but I aim to get both  

 

I don't have either mold, but Air Raid might be worth picking up, if only because he has such an unusual design. Plus, he's green.

 

plus he can be used as a "Prime" characther.

 

Dark Steel. I don't know how anyone likes Air Raid. The proportions look way too stupid, and the head just doesn't really work. I feel the whole gladiator thing that the design wants to invoke but the stick-figure proportions of the limbs, and the dorky looking head really kill it. It doesn't look at all menacing or intimidating, and the weapon just looks like he's carrying the tail end of a Boeing aircraft, rather than any kind of convincing looking weapon.

Dark Steel has a fantastic paint job and the weapons really work. The Sideswipe mold is pretty damn good DOTM mold, but the lack of paint on Sideswipe kills it. Thankfully Dark Steel is there to fix that issue.

Dark Steel. Air Raid looks ugly.

 

Darksteel. His Mech-Tech toy sucks......but every thing else is just boss.

but he's a Japanese exclusive. the new Air Raid looks lame, definitely recommend Dark STeel

 

They work great as shoulder cannons though,unlike his "BATTEL STAFF OF STABBING" since the mode was kinda made for screamer in mind (or any toys that have ball-jointed/round swiveled hands) which Darksteel lacked.

Air Raid is fun and quirky, but Dark Steel is fantastic. He really takes the already great mold of Sideswipe and really brings life to it. Plus, he's a BW reference. Can't argue with that  .

 

Darksteel is a freakin' awesome retool of a great design. Air Raid...well, I'm not sure what the point of him is really. He's fugly and doesn't really fit stylistically with anything.

 

Nothing against Air Raid, but Darksteel is a work of art, and not just by modern day standards either. If anything, I'd say that's a much better throwback than the Quickstrike comparisons, and the double weapons look hella cool on his wing things.

 

Dark Steel utterly fails as a Quickstrike homage, and he has a doofy walrus face that I can't get over (and I'm someone who normally likes doofy walrus faces).

Air Raid, on the other hand, is a goddamn gladiator! How awesome is that?

 

Air Raid could be worse. He could be ROTF Blazemaster

 

Or a Bumblebee toy.......period.

 

eh, Bumblebee's not universally bad. It sucks seeing him shelfwarm, but the molds are usually pretty well done. People loved the Concept Camaro one when it was new in 07, and I personally think Cyberfire Bee is awesome. They just need to stop overdoing it
