Are there any fans of the previous game called Demon Souls? Well, if you are a fan, jump for joy as you find out about the sequel: Dark Souls. YouTube - Dark Souls Debut Trailer [HD]
I'm too afraid to play the original, but I'm REALLY happy that there is a sequel, because I know it's a kick-ass game.
Demon's Souls is a game that takes great joy in handing you your own ass on a regular basis. I know deep down I'm far too much of a crap gamer to even try it. hahahaha
That's just the thing, you are just among the myriad of fellow gamers I know that are pretty hardcore that have had troubles with that game, hence, why I'm afraid to even attempt it, given my dubious gaming "skillz".
It is truly beautiful to look at, there's no debating that. I guess I should just hunt for YouTube Let's Plays to get my fix or I should have a go at some point for a good laugh. I can foretell many fails in my future with Demon's or Dark Souls. hahaha
Nobody who plays Demon's Souls "jumps for joy". They merely steel their nerves for the next horrific encounter and slog forward, their spirits heavy and their morale beaten, if not broken.
Death is only the beginning! ...no seriously, you're supposed to die at the start of the game Demon's Souls is easily one of my favorite games of all time. However, I honestly feel there were just far too many easy boss fights in that game and it was way too easy to cheese your way through it. FromSoftware mentioned the new game would be ramping up the difficulty so here's hoping that holds true. I'm kinda sad they're losing the whole "Hub" system of the Nexus as it was kinda fun to try and fill it with NPCs. They also need to keep the same "If you want the story go find it" system they had in the first one, it's nice being able to discover the history of the world on your own instead of the traditional "shoved in your face" story telling most other RPGs use.
Demon's Souls was amazing. Might be the best game of this generation. Very glad that they're making a spiritual successor. On a related note for Demon's Souls fans. Atlus, who published Demon's Souls in the US is not publishing Dark Souls, but they're publishing their own new game with a Demon's Souls vibe. Its called The Cursed Crusade, and looks like it could turn out to be pretty awesome. The Cursed Crusade Gets Medieval On Your PS3, PC, Xbox 360 Next Year

The much much much anticipated followup to the best game of 2009, Dark Souls promises to deliver an even more challenging experience in a much more open world. The game looks absolutely amazing, totally ups the ante from its spiritual predecessor (having undergone a title change as it is now a multiplatform release). Kotaku has a very nice first look at the game: The Harsher, Deadlier Dark Souls is also a More Beautiful Horror Adventure And here is a nice shot of what the collector's edition will come with...for no additional charge: Sucks that if you want to play the game the way it should be (with the online assets) on the Xbox you still have to pay that ridiculous subscription fee. Still worth getting even if you play offline though, as Demon's Souls was. Just the online adds so much to the game. Can't wait, if you're a gamer..get this game, no matter what platform.
What's the point in putting this in the post? It was a perfectly fine post talking about an exciting new game coming out (which already has a thread here by the way) and then you had to add a pointless system bash into it. It's not like someone would introduce a game by saying "sucks that if you want to play the game etc etc youll have to get an Xbox, so you can actually play online". No. That would be a low and downright stupid thing to say, especially when you're trying to appeal a game to players of both systems. I will never understand pointless system bashing when it's totally uncalled for. Otherwise, i'm certainly interested in the game. That collectors edition looks amazing, they really do spoil the player with these.
I still can't beat Demon's Souls And here you go, Atom, we'll even it out: ... and I can't even play it properly right now because my PS3 can't log into PSN. There we go! I'll probably get this on release for the fancy artbooks and shiny bonuses. Kinda sad that Atlus (the ones who took the chance on publishing the first one made it possible for those of us in the west to enjoy it) are cut out of the loop on this one, but ah well.
Not sure if I'm gonna get the Limited Edition right now but definitely gonna get the game. I like a challenge and this game screams challenge.
