Just checked online availability - thank you - there must be another run as these were sold out quickly initially and were selling for insane amounts on ebay a while back. Good to know they are re-stocking stores.

I feel like the DSR hype train has already come and gone. There's a lot of folks already going back to DS3. I know I have.

    Ebay:

    Dark Souls: Remastered
Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin
Dark Souls III: The Fire Fades Edition
    DLC for all games included.
    Steelbook
    $80.00; PS4 & XB1

$80 is a bit steeper than I would have expected, but that's roughly in line with what it costs to nab all three games new. Plus steelbook.

Comes out the same day as DSR for Switch.

I've never played any of the Dark Souls games, but I was really excited to get the remastered version, and then hunt down II and III on PS4. Well other games came up and I kept pushing back getting it. I have never gotten this lucky procrastinating on getting a game. Definitely gunna pre-order this one!

I may get the steel book edition even if I already have all the games. I think it's worth it.

My daughter likes to cosplay, so for this year's MagFest she wants to be Artorias.
    Yeah...not complicated at all...

Okay, so my girlfriend bought DS2 with the DLC's. She's been playing it for a few hours now, and I think she's gone through her entire curse-word repertoire.

So I saw this game at Fry's a while back and picked it up on a whim without knowing a thing about the series because I've been needing something fresh and I'm loving it so far. SL56 and at Sen's Fortress right now, +10 Balder sword primary, with +10 Zweihander as an occasional crutch. (also somehow managed to get the rite of kindling early without a divine weapon) The difficulty seems a bit exaggerated around the internet, but it's challenging and fun. Just might have to go for the whole trilogy. (although i hear DSII is bad?)

Of course, because luck hates me, I accidentally pissed off the one NPC that you can ask to forgive your sins. And I can't exactly ask him to solve the problem. :/

I didn't realize that stuff was changed around for DS2 with the re-release. NPC's in different locations, more enemies, moved bonfires...
Makes for some seriously funny moments when the bonfire to save your life isn't where you thought it was and you're being chased by around 10 hollows.

I killed him in my first playthrough was back in the day, and killed him in the remastered version. Just don't attack anymore NPCs unless you are sure you want them dead.

Also,if you really want to kill NPC's for their equipment, just do it right before finishing the game. That way, the sins don't matter since they don't carry over, plus you can then deal with them as normal without consequence on your next play through.

Only played DK3 but it felt good to plow through it a 2nd & 3rd time. The achievements makes you get all 3 endings. Had fun disguising myself as a statue online. Cool how people keep the fightclubs respectful.

The Nameless King was a bastard. Only part I needed help with.

The fight clubs in DS3 are interesting, but I greatly prefer the invader-killing in DS1. It's a challenge for invading because of the prevalence of gank squads, and in a squad it's fun because of the teamwork involved.

Cool, still need to play DS1. Not sure if remastered is worth it since I got the orig as a free dl.

Prob avoid 2, sounds like its overloaded with cheap bosses.

Remastered is worth it to me. I like the visuals, mainly.
DS2 isn't really loaded like that. Some of the bosses aren't as tough as previous ones, but getting to them is more difficult with the higher number of random enemies and red phantoms. I quite like it, but it is more of a challenge.

Baller Swag Sword is tops. On a dex build, it'll carry you through the whole game with no problem.

I honestly found DSR's difficulty curve easing up quite a bit as I progressed. Chances are if you're eschewing speed running in favor of taking time to explore, you're probably going to level up your equipment and stats faster than the game ups its challenge factor. I went from banging my head on some of the earliest areas to breezing through late game content and beating bosses in 3 or fewer attempts. The DLC pushed back on that phenomenon a bit, but not by much. I suspect the way DS chews up newbies is the largest contributing factor to its perception as a hard game.

Five minutes after the credits rolled on DSR, I jumped into DS2: SOTFS. By my estimation I'm 2/3rds of the way through the game and DLC. Just made it to Fume Knight!

It's...not a bad game. But I understand the hate it gets. In some ways it reminds me of my first aborted playthough of DS on 360 when I had no idea what I was doing and wasn't having any fun. Except this time, it's just hard all of the way through. By itself that would be less of an issue, but the ganks and the quantity/placement of enemies often move my perception of the challenge from "tough, but fair," to "this game is deliberately trying to be a frustrating experience."

I'm in it to win it though...if only because I'm looking forward to DS3.

General term used is Soulsborne. If you're a big Soulsborne nerd like I am, you might enjoy this channel:
